I used Dansktandforsikring for years, and it was always the best insurance. Since last year their services went down so badly that I will no longer use them. In their explanations of why they would not cover the dental expense, they clarify that the Tooth was treated before or it was decayed. Well, isn't it the purpose of the insurance that it covers the treatment of unwell tooth? Let's compare the Dansktandforsikring to any other healthcare insurance: can you imagine that doctor is refusing patient a treatment because he is sick or was treated before? That is exactly the gibberish you get from Dansktandforsikring.

Teeth was broken, and Ibudent Dental Clinic taken me in emergency case late evening, and just after visit all data been immeditaley sent to dansktandforsikring by Doctor.

I am very satisfied with my decision, they were available to cover expenses from day one, and always were willing reimburse me the valid expenses.
Though it was so far only small expenses ;)

Da du købte forsikringen, købte du en forsikring med 50% dækning, der inkluderer en gratis undersøgelse og tandrensning én gang årligt. I policen og i de tilsendte forsikringsbetingelser, som du modtog ved købet, er det også præciseret, hvilken forsikring du har købt, og hvor meget den dækker med.

I betingelserne og på vores hjemmeside er det oplyst, at behandlingskrævende eller problematiske tænder ikke umiddelbart er dækket, hvorfor der kan være regninger/behandlinger, vi ikke umiddelbart dækker. Samlet set kan vi dog konstatere, at du har haft god nytte af din forsikring.

Vi oplyser ingen steder, at der ville blive refunderet 75%, som du skriver - en sådan forsikring tilbyder vi slet ikke.

IDA Tandforsikring is useless

I got IDA Tandforsikring (covered by Dansk Tandforsikring) for a year and the selvrisiko is so high the insurance pays out only if you get 2 checkups and many small fillings (bigger ones don't even count) or break your teeth accidentally. I don't recommend it and won't get it next year.

In regards to your comment, it seems that you have misunderstood the insurance terms – it actually do cover all dental treatments.

When you take out the IDA insurance, it is required that all new members have had an examination at the dentist within the last year. If this is not the case, a dental status scheme must be filled out, or a check- up at the dentist must be done.

When you signed up for the IDA insurance the following information was sent to you along with your policy.

When treating your claims, it is important to retrieve relevant documentation. When this material is not available, we can only assess your claim from the last examination you had. This is the reason why we have declined some of the treatments.

The IDA insurance is an insurance that only costs 550,- kr. per annum, with a yearly excess of 2.000,- kr.
IDA dental insurance covers all regular dental treatments like examinations, fillings (including already existing fillings), crowns, bridges, implants. The insurance always provides compensation according to its own prices.

Your coverage would have been good in the future, should you have chosen to keep the IDA Dental insurance.

Terrible experience and policy offer

I ordered Dansk Tandforsikring Plus and my dentist sent required information to them 2-3 days later so that they can make an offer. On the website, they say that their processing time is 7-10 days after they receive information from dentist. But nothing happened for 3 weeks, until I started to write and call them. They told me that the bitewings (x-rays) provided by my dentist is too old and that she will be contacted again to send new ones. OK, I can live with that. But my dentist was not contacted for another 2 weeks. Then I got a call saying that I must tell my dentist myself to send new bitewings! Why on Earth did they took them 5 weeks to inform me that!!? This should have been done within 10 days, as they state on their site.

I went to my dentist and asked her to send the updated bitewings. One week later I receive a policy offer, where they excluded 19 teeth (68%) from the coverage. Basically, all the teeth that have had fillings, root canal treatments and crowns already where excluded. Half of them were put on reduced coverage and half of them removed from any coverage. I don't understand why exclude teeth with crowns because they are unlikely to be treated or changed for at least 10 years. Only 9 completely healthy teeth were covered fully, and those are likely to stay healthy for the rest of my life.

OK, it's a commercial company and they don't want to loose money on me. I get it. I expected that they would exclude teeth with a high risk of being treated in future. I understand it. But they basically removed everything that have even a slightest degree of risk. I did not expect that it would be to such an astonishing degree. The offer does not provide me with any benefits at all and it does not make any sense for me to buy it. And if it's a profit-oriented company, they should at least try to make sure that a customer does not wait for 5 weeks just to be told that he needs to contact his dentist himself. In total, I wasted 7 weeks to get the crappy offer, while I could have examined other options during this time.

We are very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our services and that our offer did not fulfill your expectations. However, we should like to underline that your complaint is not completely in agreement with our listed correspondance.

April 14.: You ordered an insurance and were informed that the processing time was 7-10 working days, which means two full weeks from receiving the necessary material. Should the material received be unsatisfactory, obviously the case handling time will be longer.

April 20.: We received the material from your dentist, as it was sent by post we did not receive it within 2-3 days.
May 8.: Our dentist consultant handled your case for the first time, but requested new bitewings (x-rays) as the received bitewings came as photocopied paper copies - too old and of a poor quality.

May 12. We sent you an e-mail regarding your bitewings and asked that you consult your dentist yourself in order to have new ones made. We expected you or your dentist would contact us afterwards as we do with all our clients. Your dentist only works Thursdays and Fridays, which also makes it difficult to get in contact with her.

May 28.: We received new bitewings.

June 4.: You received your insurance offer.

We do admit that our case handling time has been hard to keep as we received more than 1000 new cases, in a time period of 4 weeks. Our client’s cases have our utmost priority, and we proceed to give everyone fair and equal treatment.

We would also like to stress, that you did not have 19 excluded teeth “only” 14 where 4 of them were due to the fact that they do not exist. So you only had 10 excluded teeth. The majority of the 10 excluded teeth were in a condition where treatment was needed or we were missing documentation in order to verify their true condition. It is very important that you read the reasons we give in the policy in order to understand why teeth are excluded either temporarily or permanently.

However we do apologize for the delay of 4 days as your case should have been handled latest May 5th 2015, but we cannot apologize for delays due to requests of new or more material. In our insurance policy terms we clearly state that should the case be that we do not receive prober material, we need to obtain new material and this obviously prolongs the case handling time.
