Non-Refund and Poor Customer Service

On November 11, 2024, and November 14, 2024, I made two payments to an account provided by TransferMate, as instructed by Fintiba for the blocked account process. However, due to a small overpayment, my payment was canceled. TransferMate contacted me one week later and informed me that a refund would be processed.

Despite this, the refund has not been completed, and when I followed up, I was told that the refund process could take up to 15 business days. Last week, the 15 business days passed. Today, December 24, 2024, marks one full month since the payment was made. However, the problem is that my questions are not being answered at all. It feels as though I am being ignored. There is a customer who has been wronged, but it seems they don’t care at all.

Today, I sent an email, and once again, no response. The same happened the other day. However, when I had a question about making a payment, I received a response within an hour. It seems that customer satisfaction is only important until the payment is made, but after that, everything changes. When it comes to refund requests, things take a completely different turn. My emails are not being answered, and I am not getting clear responses to my questions. These are actions and behaviors that do not align with any corporate standards.

Currently, I have reviewed 51 email exchanges with TransferMate. It has been a month, and this issue is still ongoing. I am requesting a refund as it has been a month, the 15 business days have passed, and still, no action has been taken. When I inquire, the response is always "Sorry, we are waiting for an update from d-Local." However, my direct contact is with TransferMate, not d-Local. You were responsible for all steps of the process up until the payment was made, and now that it is time for the refund, you are passing the responsibility.

Let me be clear: Do not work with this company. I wanted to, and now I regret it. Think about it— as a customer who has been wronged, I am still waiting for my refund. They don’t even reply to my emails. Don’t make the same mistake, or you’ll regret it too.

I am preparing to file a complaint with the relevant legal authorities about this issue. I wanted to share this negative experience with you.

Getting a refund from a university

Getting a refund from a university. They are extremely difficult to work with, want excessive documentation and will not help you only threaten to send the money back to the university. Do not use them.

2 months and nothing

For 2 months of sending them all the documents providing everything they requested in different files in same file pdf and so forth, they transferred me to another person, who then requested the same documents again.
The incompetence of the people that are working there is just non believable, I want it to be know which are the incompetent people working there , so they might get fined by the owner, managment or whatever, best case for them to be fired.
I wouldn't recommend people to be using the service of this company, better use wise, I made the account and already transferred the funds. Took me total of 3 days, with money to be transferred and to arrive.

How would you explain a senerio where…

How would you explain a senerio where you got an email from transfermate telling you about your refund and it says your refund is 4.3m in naira and they keep asking for unnecessary documents and the next minute they stopped asking and after few days they make a refund of 2.8m in naira , the question is why did I get an email saying my money was 4.3m in naira and later got credited with 2.8m in naira... would you say they have successfully manipulated me or the workers are not competent and they didn't inform me via email that i have my refund already, same as when i wanted to pay the tuition fee it got delayed for almost 2months before they could successfully make the payment and why is their website not accessible for couple of week now?

As a regulated entity, TransferMate follow strict regulations and laws, set out by local and governing bodies. Despite our best efforts to keep document requests to a minimum there are times where we may require further information in order to process your transaction. As you know we were then in fact in a position to process your refund once the necessary documentation was received. The conversion rates for some currencies fluctuate more than others and in your case by the time the documentation was received the rate had changed.

A shitty company that wants money for literally doing nothing, 2$ for every payment you do, even within the same country.

As a currency provider TransferMate does not charge a fee for cross currency transactions however we do advise that we may apply a fee for same currency transactions.

Fees vary depending on our banking provider costs. The benefits to using TransferMate verses a traditional bank is money transfers are quicker and more efficient.
