I am writing to formally address our statement concerning the termination of the contract scheduled to conclude at the end of January 2025.
Background and Previous Attempts
I wish to remind you that in [January/2024], we contacted your office by phone to terminate the contract. However, we were informed by the operator that the request was submitted too late. Consequently, we were obligated to continue payments for another year, despite not utilizing your services.
On November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM, we once again reached out to request the cancellation of the contract. Regrettably, instead of processing our cancellation request, your representative attempted to persuade us to extend the agreement and subsequently stated that a manager would follow up with us regarding this matter.
Concerns About Compliance with Applicable Laws
Your handling of this matter raises significant concerns about its compliance with legal requirements, particularly regarding fair consumer practices. Under Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights, consumers have a clear right to withdraw from or terminate contracts under fair and transparent conditions.
Despite being fully aware of our preference for English communication, your representatives have contacted us three times in Portuguese. On each occasion, we explicitly requested a brief pause to arrange for an interpreter, but the calls were prematurely disconnected by your representatives. This conduct contravenes Article 3(1) of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which upholds the right to effective communication and non-discrimination, as well as local consumer protection laws under Portuguese law, such as Decree-Law No. 24/2014 regarding consumer rights in contracts.
Further Legal and Administrative Actions
I must inform you that we are in contact with legal counsel who is already reviewing the situation.
Request for Immediate Action
We demand the immediate termination of the contract in accordance with Article 9 of Directive 2011/83/EU, which permits consumers to cancel service agreements under reasonable conditions.
The reasons for this termination request are as follows:
Financial Constraints: We no longer have the means to continue payments.
Service Dissatisfaction: We are dissatisfied with the quality of the services provided.
Previous Request: A cancellation request was submitted last year but was unreasonably denied.

Please provide written confirmation of the cancellation immediately. Be advised that any delay in compliance may compel us to escalate this matter further, including formal complaints to regulatory authorities such as DECO (Portuguese Consumer Rights Organization), Standard Trading, and the European Commission’s Consumer Rights Enforcement.
