A description of the activity carried out within the context of the running programmes is given. Some of the most relevant scientific and technical achievement are described from the viewpoints of the Scientific Departments of the Centre. The technical and administrative support activities are also presented. A list of publications issued by the Ispra Scientific staff is given

[en] Patents and licences were part of normal JRC activity since its origin: the new feature of this programme is that through an increased JRC activity in this field as well as a structured support to D.G. XIII, the process of utilization can be started at an earlier stage, with the deliberate purpose of achieving practical results as early as possible, through an adequate R and D effort. Key element of this process is the systematic identification, within JRC programme, of those research areas, concepts, ideas, that might present interest for industry and for the public sector. In this respect D.G. XIII by its market survey and contacts with industry is providing JRC with the essential information to carry out this programme

[en] This Decree implements at national level Directive No 77/576 of 27 July 1977 of the Commission of the European Communities, as amended by Directive No 79/640 of 21 June 1979. The Directive provides for the standardization by Member States of their legislative, regulatory and administrative provisions concerning safety signs in workplaces, including radioactivity symbols. [en] Presented is roll and authority of EURATOM in promoting and achieving in the first place preventive european radiation protection policies on the basis of the EURATOM basic norms (article 2, letter 6, and article 30).
