We are a diverse group of Model Makers who support Product Design Engineering groups within Apple’s Hardware Engineering Department. This group specializes in manufacturing models, prototypes, and offers manufacturing/design solutions. We are looking for an experienced machinist to join our new lab.
Description
In this role you will work independently on assignments that require considerable judgment and initiative. This is an up and coming lab, so working in a small group setting and supporting startup activities is a must. This position requires an experienced machinist who is able to collaborate and communicate through multiple, competing priorities. We require a logical problem solver who is comfortable around technical equipment and data. Other requirements entail using creative holding methods to produce complex prototypes at the highest quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- To be able to set-up, operate, program a machine with the ability to use the proper metrology equipment to authenticate work.
- Ability to program complex 3D parts
- Adept at working with a variety of prototype materials including steels, aluminum and plastics.
- Ability to validate critical features and dimensions using hand metrology equipment.
- Experience using horizontal and vertical saws, manual mills and lathes
- Ability to apply and advise on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to hold close tolerances
- High school diploma or applicable experience

- Experienced machinist with the ability to program and produce high-quality complex 5-axis parts, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
