The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for an Immersive Media Workflow & Software Support Developer to help us integrate the new Apple Immersive Video format into future products and services both inside and outside of Apple.

Description
As a Support Developer, you will help bring new features of Apple Immersive Video to content creation innovators around the globe. As a contributor on our team, you will work with technologies such as RealityKit, AVFoundation, Metal, Quicktime, advanced video codecs & protocols. You will work closely with MacOS and VisionOS development teams to champion new features.
If supporting and advancing the groundbreaking of high-availability “five 9’s”, professional content production tools at the intersection of art and technology excites you, then this is the opportunity you’ve been working towards.
- You’ll write sample apps to test new API’s to demonstrate (and validate) how new features of Apple Immersive Video integrate into new and existing workflows and tools.
- You’ll collect feedback while directly helping professional television and cinema production tools developers, around the world, integrate Apple Immersive Video into their products and services.
- You’ll help developers build, stress-test and optimize their apps and services for performance on MacOS & VisionOS for use in professional media production environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 8+ years of professional experience in software development.
- BS Computer Science, similar degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in 3D graphics rendering frameworks like Metal, Vulcan and OpenGL.
- Proficiency in a programming languages such as C/C++, Objective-C and Swift
- Understanding of internet networking protocols, such as HTTP, TC/IP, etc.
- Experience in shipping applications or libraries for customer use.
- Experience implementing video and audio recording formats commonly found in the cinema or television industry such as ProRes, WAV, EXR, TIFF, etc.
- Experience using Xcode and software development on Apple platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
- MS Computer Science
- Experience with immersive video formats such as Spherical v2, OMAF or VR180.
- Familiarity with video transport protocols and interfaces like SMPTE-2110 and SDI.
- Understanding of video and audio encoding, delivery and playback technologies.
- Some experience using linear algebra and 3D math.
- Experience working with real-time image processing for media production.
