We are looking for a RE&D Facilities Engineer to be based in Yokohama, Japan.
The role will be responsible for the management of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire (MEPF) and other critical systems supporting Apple sites handled by RE&D in Japan.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role and/or consulting experience with a large International consulting firm having extensive knowledge with designing and supervising construction, testing and commission of MEPF systems as well as managing and implementing preventative and reactive maintenance systems and processes. The candidate will be comfortable leading internal and external technical resources ensuring technical requirements are achieved on time and within budget.

Description
This role will include but not limited to:
- Day to day management of all installed Mechanical, Electrical Plumbing & Fire (MEPF) systems, for all sites across Japan which are managed by RE&D
- Implement and supervise planned preventative maintenance programs including supply of critical spares to optimize cost to Apple whilst ensuring operations and business continuity
- Support the internal engineering manager and facility manager to implement projects to achieve on time delivery of laboratory and critical MEP systems related construction and modification. These types of work will require extensive coordination with internal business units and external consultants, contractors and local authorities
- Plan asset repair/replacement and forecast Expense and Capital costs into the annual CAPEX/OPEX forecasts
- Recommendations to MEPF budget development costs for new project(s) and/or initiative(s)
- Own and drive key facilities engineering programs; asset register setup and management; MEP systems Risk Assessment; MEP Systems Emergency Response Lead and Contingency Planning, Energy and Sustainability initiatives
- Oversee MEP systems to ensure ongoing statutory compliance, environmental accreditations and optimum performance against local and International norms and standards
- Develop MEP design and integration process to encompass procurement, project management and budget controls to enable predictable project delivery
- Partner with Apple internal business partners to develop energy management initiatives/projects and complete as approved
- Lead value engineering (MEP systems) initiatives as they arise
- Develop concise communications suitable for all levels of management – examples of these are MEP system engineering status reports, feasibility reports, return on investment/cost evaluations and project updates
Minimum Qualifications
- Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in related field
- Business Level English and Japanese Language proficiency (written and oral)
- Experience leading the development and execution of creative marketing campaigns
Key Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in related fields considered advantageous
- Ability to lead specialist engineering resources either individually or as teams on projects and initiatives, including on site supervision of MEP systems installation and commissioning
- Experience in performing operation, maintenance and trouble shooting in critical facilities
- Experience with Clean Room and/or Data Centre environment’s preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret sophisticated MEP design and construction drawings
- Understanding of local codes and statutory requirements governing MEP systems
- Proven skills in completing risk assessments and consistently delivering to ambitious targets
- Relevant Design and/or Project Management experience in all aspects of MEP services
- Self-starter and capable individual contributor
- Due to the nature of the work, it is expected that a lot of works will be carried out after working hours including some weekends, public holidays and late nights. Flexibility with working hours is important
