The BBC’s CBeebies preschool channel has picked up Rainbow Group’s CGI-animated series Pinocchio and Friends for a premiere in early 2022.
Produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Rai Ragazzi and Toonz Media Group, the 26 x 12-minute series was originally commissioned by Rai Yoyo and premiered on the Italian channel in November 2021. Pinocchio and Friends has since become Yoyo’s top-rated show, according to Rainbow.
An action-comedy for four- to seven-year-olds, it’s set in Papa Geppetto’s shop of wonders, where Pinocchio meets several other toys that come to life, and together they discover the wonders of everyday life. Rainbow and Toonz first announced production on the series in Kidscreen last December.
