Did you know that the EU has introduced a common charger for electronic devices? Say goodbye to rummaging through drawers to find the right charger! Thanks to the EU's new Common Charger Directive, all new portable electronic devices sold in the EU must now support USB-C charging.
This initiative offers significant benefits for both consumers and the environment:
- Convenience: Use one USB-C charger for multiple devices, regardless of the brand.
- Reduced e-waste: With approximately 11,000 tonnes of e-waste generated annually from discarded chargers, reusing chargers will greatly reduce this figure.
- Cost savings: Consumers can save around €250 million annually by purchasing devices without a charger.
- Harmonised fast charging: Enjoy consistent charging speeds with any compatible charger.
These rules already apply to mobile phones, tablets, headphones, and other devices. From April 2026, laptops will also be included. Simplify your everyday life and contribute to a better future!
