On-farm (pre-farm gate) losses can exceed 10% of total production. They can occur for a range of reasons such as inefficient farming operations, difficulties with fulfilling production contracts and lack of awareness and consequently inadequate reporting (categorising) of such losses. An EIP-AGRI Focus Group on ‘Reducing food loss on the farm’ has just released its report which identifies the principal on-farm practices and technologies that can minimise food losses. Find out about them in the final report.
