Allen “Dickie” Burke attended Morgan from 1944 to 1946. Dickie was captain of the football and basketball teams in high school.
He played each of these sports in college, but is best remembered as a member of the fabulous basketball team which was the CIAA champion in 1945. The team, under the sharp-shooting and play-making of Dickie, became the talk of the conference.
No one contributed more to a championship than Dickie.
Dickie is a member of the Baltimore City Police Department and an outstanding civic worker in the city of Baltimore. He is he founder of Operation Champ, a neighborhood-based urban recreation program. This program provides services for over 150,000 residents of the city.
