Her mother played high school tennis and taught the whole family how to play; tennis became a family affair.
Andrea and her sister ended up being enrolled in group lessons and some private lessons. Then Andrea got to be really good sparing with
so many different players. The instructor encouraged the students to play Texas -USTA Tennis. At the age of 12, Andrea was ranked in the top 10 of the 12 and under division.
Hanover Insurance Company sponsored a National Father-Daughter Division in the US Open. Andrea and her father won the mid-central division and got to play in the US Open in Manhattan, New York, with an aII expenses paid trip and the ability to bring two guests. Great food, great transportation and free tickets to the matches when they were not playing. That experience lit a fire in her.
Andrea played high school tennis and was the #1 single player all 4 years. She continued to play in Competitive Texas USTA sanctioned Junior Tennis. At about 16 years old, the paths of Andrea and Tania crossed and they began playing doubles. Coach Frazier saw them play at a national tournament and recruited them to Morgan.
Andrea always went to a match expecting to leave the winner. She absolutely loved her Morgan Tennis teammates for their competitive spirit. Andrea made friends with people who were not tennis players. She made friends with students at Morgan from Virginia and New York who took her to their homes on weekend trips to meet their families.
