Anthony Chase is a native of Royal Oak,Md. He graduated form Salisbury Junior High School and went to Princess Anne Academy. He graduated from Morgan College in the class of 1929.
Chase participated in varsity sports as a catcher in baseball and a right guard in football.As a freshmen , he recorded the highest batting average at the college . He played semi-pro baseball with the Buffalo Giants of the Ohio Valley League .
In football, he was named all Afro-American guard in 1927 and 1928 . Because of his speed and running ability , Chase was considered one of the great running guards in Morgan history .Â
While at Morgan, chase was a member of the Dramatic Club. He also sang bass with the Morgan's original quartet that was under the direction of Dean Haywood. The other members of this group were Samuel Turpin , Brewington Kiah and Rev.Crawford Trader.
In his sophomore year he won the declamation contest and in his junior year won second place in the warner contest.
Chase attended schools of social work at Howard and Columbia Universities . He is a member in the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and holds the title of keeper of the peace . He is also a life member of the Morgan Alumni Association.
