Bruce was born in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. He enetered Morgan State in September, 1967.

At Morgan, Bruce was a Business Administration major, graduating with a degree in 1972. His campus activities included the Business Administration Club, Golden Bear Association and the Inner-City Youth Program where he was named Counselor of the Year in 1970.

"Rock" Caraway participated in lacrosse and football. As football was his stronger suit he was named All-CIAA, Associated Press Honorable Mention -- All American at offensive guard and served the Morgan Grizzlies as team captain.

After graduation "Rock" tried out with the Los Angeles Rams (was released before the season opener). His professional career encompasses Salesman of the Year in 1980 and 1986 from the 3M Company, Manufacturing Representative of the Year in 1984 from Hills Packaging Company and was promoted to Senior Account Representative of the Year in 1984 from Hilas Packaging Company and was promoted to Senior Account Representative at the 3M Company. He started a Dallas, Texas chapter of the Varsity "M" Club in 1987.

For the past five years, Bruce has pursued a vision of developing spiritually strong male leadership in America. To that end he is serving as a deacon in his church at Marshall, Texas with the oversight of the children's Sunday School, the Prison Outreach Ministry and personal counseling. He serves as voluntary chaplain in the Fort Worth Federal Prison System, the Harrison County Jail and the Texas Department of Corrections. Bruce was also active in recruiting football talent, for Morgan, in the Texas high school system during the late 1980's.
