Hall of Fame
Calvin C. Irvin was born on November 28, 1924 in Halisburg, Alabama, but attended schools in Orange, New Jersey. He was graduation speaker for his senior class and won the highest award for excellence in scholarship and athletics from Orange High School in 1942.

Cal entered Morgan and lettered in basketball and football. He was co-captain of the 1945 championship basketball team, and made the All-CIAA football first team as wingback in 1944.

After transferring from Morgan and receiving his B.S. degree from the University of Illinois, he played baseball with Newark Eagles and semi-pro basketball with the Orange Triangles. Â

Cal has been a most productive coach in football and basketball, piling up numerous championships. Eighteen of his former players were drafted by pro teams. He holds membership in numerous athletic and civic organizations and has been inducted into the CIAA, MEAC, N.C. A&T State University and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletic Halls of Fame.

He is a member of Trinity AME Zion Church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and is married to the former Kathryn Womble.Â
