Charles “Redd” “Bull” Robinson Charles “Redd” Robinson is from Richmond, Virginia.
He played guard on the varsity football team from 1948 to 1950. “Redd” was a terror on offense and defense and was selected as All-CIAA for two years and All-America for two years, 1949 and 1950. “Redd” was co-captain of the 1959 squad.
“Redd” was co-captain of the 1950 boxing team. As a boxer, he became the heavyweight champion of the CIAA.
“Redd” was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1951 and played for the Baltimore Colts during the 1953 and 1954 seasons.
“Redd” organized and coached an adult football team in 1958, known as the Baltimore Rams. This team was he first Black team to win the Baltimore city-wide championship.
This same team also functioned as a charity organization by sponsoring Christmas parties for handicapped children in which money was raised to buy equipment for handicapped patients.
“Redd” has been employed by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation for many years and is now a center director. He was honored by the Superintendent of the Department of recreation for organizing and coaching six ladies’ softball teams.
“Redd” owns his own package goods store here in Baltimore.
