Jack Dennis referred to by his classmates as “Dennis the Menace”, was an uncanny but brilliant quarterback for Morgan during the mid 50’s.

Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, where he attended Bates High School, Jack was a triple-threat. He was considered a magician with the football. An excellent leader on and off the field, Jack inspired his teammates with the desire and meaning of winning. Under Jack’s generalship, the offensive unit was noted for running up scores of 60-0 or 55-7.

One of his greatest runs was at the Hampton-Morgan game when Jack took the opening kick-off and returned it for a touchdown, which was nullified because of a penalty. He then took the ensuing kick-off and returned it for a touchdown. Jack played one year as a quarterback under Coach Banks. In fact, he was Morgan’s first quarterback under Coach Banks. Jack was an All-CIAA quarterback in 1957-1958 and the leading punter in the conference in 1958. Jack is still known today as ‘Mr. Magician’ with the football.

“Dennis the Menace” is currently a member of the I.B.P.O.E. Elks Club, and a member of the Elks Athletic Committee. He is an active officer in the “M” Club and once of its most devoted members. Jack is married, has three children, and resided in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dennis passed away on December 7, 2013 in Baltimore..
