Hall of Fame
A native of Milpitas, California, Jakaria Stewart-Crawford entered Morgan State University in 1994 from Archbishop Mitty High School (San Jose) where she was a standout in soccer, track, and volleyball, and was inducted into the Archbishop Mitty High School Hall of Fame in 2017. While she was a participant in both track and volleyball at Morgan, she was one of the most dynamic volleyball players in Morgan history finishing her career as the all-time career digs leader (currently in second place), second on the all-time career kills list (currently in fifth place), and is currently eighth on the all-time career aces list.
A major factor in helping the Lady Bears reach the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship game in 1994, 1995, and 1996, Mrs. Stewart-Crawford earned a First-Team All-MEAC selection at the conclusion of her junior season in 1996. She returned for her senior season extremely motivated after finishing as the MEAC Runner-up for three consecutive seasons, and led the team in kills, digs, service aces and total attacks for the 1997 season. She also became the third player in Morgan history to record 1,000 career kills. In recognition of her exceptional play, Mrs. Stewart-Crawford was twice voted MEAC “Player of the Week,” and earned her second First-Team All-MEAC selection. Her outstanding play continued in the MEAC tournament, in which she made the MEAC All-Tournament team and was selected as the 1997 MEAC Volleyball Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) en route to helping lead the Lady Bears to their first MEAC Championship since 1992. The co-captain then led her team in victory against Grambling State University in a play-in game, which earned the Lady Bears the right to become the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to advance to the NCAA Division I National Tournament.
Mrs. Stewart-Crawford received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Morgan in 1998, and continued her educational pursuits by obtaining a Masters in Business Administration from San Jose State University. She has been a licensed realtor for sixteen years and is the owner of Concierge Real Estate Investment Company. Mrs. Stewart-Crawford has also worked for Kaiser Permanente for the last 10 years where she has held titles of Regional Product Manager, Supply Chain Director, Performance Improvement Director, and Executive Consultant II shifting performance outcomes and culture to drive superior quality and service for their members.
Jakaria currently resides in California with her husband of 9 years, Rachaude, and their daughter, Iysis Milan Crawford. She is an active member of The Links, Incorporated, a Diamond Life Member – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a Charter Member for TRACY Alumnae Chapter. She also enjoys serving in many ministries in her church, sharing in outreach to the homeless with her daughter and niece, and continues to give back to the game of volleyball by serving as a volunteer coach and youth mentor at Milpitas High School.
