Joseph Edward Buckson "Joe Buck" as he is warmly named, is a native Baltimorean. He is a graduate of the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School where he lettered in Varsity Football for four years. After graduating in 1954 from Dunbar, Joe entered Morgan State College. In his four years as a Morgan Bear, Joe lettered in football and was named All-CIAA 2nd string in both his junior and senior years. During his senior year as captain, he helped to lead his team in to the reign of Co-CIAA champions with Delaware State College.

Always the gentleman, Joe Buckson helped to establish the east side legendary Poets Athletic Club, Inc. The Poets A.C., Inc. is a non-profit community based organization that strives to serve the East Baltimore community. Today, the Poets A.C., Inc. is involved in several community service projects such as Adopt-a-School and an annual Feed the Needy drive each Thanksgiving and Christmas, just to name a few. These activities are spearheaded by Joseph E. Buckson who serves as the long-time president of the Poets Athletic Club, Inc.

Joseph E. Buckson is the husband of Gwendolyn Beasley Buckson. He is the father of two daughters, Sharon Audra Buckson Stewart and Susan Hillary Buckson. He is also a proud grandfather of Darren Anthony Stewart who was born recently on September 26, 1995.

Currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
