Landis Lee, popularly known as “Chink”, is from Boys High School, Brooklyn, New York. “Chink” came to Morgan State in September, 1953 and graduated June, 1957.

Morgan State won their first C.I.A.A. Swimming and Diving Championships in 1955 and Landis “Chink” Lee, as a sophomore, was a major factor in Morgan winning the C.I.A.A.title.Coach Stewart Brooks could always depend upon “Chink” to excel in the backstroke, medley relay and sprint relay teams.

“Chink”, in his four years of swimming, won six C.I.A.A. Individual Championships and he was a member of five C.I.A.A. Relay Championship teams. In addition to that, “Chink” set two C.I.A.A. and two Pool Records. In 1956, at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships, Landis Lee won the Outstanding Swimmers Award, which exemplified his leadership as Co-Captain of the swimming Team and his outstanding swimming ability.

During his college days. “Chink” was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Dormitory Glee Club.

Upon graduation “Chink” continued his outstanding swimming career with Fort Dix, New Jersey Swimming Team. His great contributions helped Fort Dix to win the Post Championship.

The New York State Division of Parole awarded him two Citations for Outstanding Performance as a Parole Officer. Landis has coached football in the prestigious Pop Warner Little League in Hempstead, New York. He has coached youngsters in the Biddie League Basketball from 1968 to 1972. Along with being a member of the Suffolk County, Long Island High School Football Officials’ Association. “Chink” was also a member of the Morgan State Alumni Association of Long Island Chapter. 

Currently resides in Hempstead, New York.
