"Joints" attended A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, New York. he came to morgan in 1940. His education and athletic career were interrupted by service in 1942. At that point in his college life he was an All-C.I.A.A. guard.
He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Morgan. He returned to football and in 1946 made All-C.I.A.A. tackle. He loved the game of football and believed in word contact. His quickness and speed made him a tremendous blocker, and tackler. "Joints" was an outstanding player and was dedicated to the game. While at Morgan he was an active student. He became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and later on, a member of the Pan Helllic Council. He was an honor student. He was Dean of Pledges in 1947 and Co-Editor to the Morgan Spokesman. During his sophomore year he was on the Dean's list. "Joints" was also a trackman, and a member in other campus activities.
Upon graduation "Joints" was the first black invited for a tryout with the Chicago Bears football organization from an all black college. In 1969, he was the head field judge for the I.C.A.A.A.A. In 1955 he was honored as the Coach of the Year in the S.E.A.C. conference in football. He later became president of the Westchester County Track Coaches and Official Association. He was a member of the Alumni Association of Morgan State University from 1957 to 1967 the New York Chapter, also the "M" Club.
