Hall of Fame
McMurray was born on October 3, 1934 in Roanoke, Alabama. After completing Norwalk High School in Connecticut, he attended Morgan from from 1953 to 1958.
At Morgan, Robert was a member of the track team under the coaching of Eddie Hurt and distinguished himself by running on the freshman Mile Relay championship team of the 1954 Penn Relays and the C.I.A.A. Mile Relay championship team.Â
Other honors include being a member of the All World track team (440 dash) in 1957-58, establishing one of the fastest 440's in the world. In 1958, he was a member of the All-American track team (440), N.C.A.A. champ in the 440, N.A.I.A. champion and record holder in the 440 and C.I.A.A 440 champion. He was also 400 yd and 60 yd. MAA Champion in 1958.Â
McMurray served in the military for 22 years, was decorated for service in Viet Nam and retired as an Army 1st Sargeant. He attended Evergreen College in the state of Washington and has a Masters degree in Public Administration. He currently resides in Spanaway, Washington, and is employed as the Hospital Liaison for Coprehensive Mental Health.Â
