T. Madison “Mat” Garrison Madison Garrison, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, was a graduate of Douglass High School.

“Mat” enrolled at Morgan originally in 1939. A super-star, “Mat” was called ‘Mr. Basketball’.

During his freshman year, “Mat” was the leading scorer on his team. In addition, “Mat” was a good track star. In 1940 and 1941, “Mat” won the CIAA Long Jump.

“Mat’s” athletic prowess also extended into the area of swimming, where he was considered tops in Baltimore City. “Mat” was an adept ball-handler and an inspiring leader on his teams.

“Mat”, who was an active “M” Club man, was also an Aquatics Supervisor with the Baltimore City Bureau of Recreation. He was also an Associate Professor of Physical Education at Morgan State University, where he teachers advanced swimming courses and coaches the divers on Morgan’s Swimming Team.

“Mat” was a dedicated worker and an excellent teacher. He was also an outstanding leader in his community. He has been instrumental in providing numerous jobs for worthy students in need of financial assistance.

Regarded by all who known him as devoted worker, dedicated to perfection, “Mat’s” inspiration and many talents are well known throughout the city of Baltimore.
