“Mr. Mac”, as he was known to affectionately to all his ex-players and students, was a master coach whose won and lost record is still phenomenal. His football teams were perennial city and conference champions. He was acclaimed Coach of the Year by three organizations on eight different occasions.

He coached and sent on to college, players who became All-Americans. Players such as Leonard Ford (Morgan, Michigan, and the Cleveland Browns), William “Sugar” Cain (Morgan and Dunbar High School’s Legendary Coach), Terry Day (Morgan), Avatus Stone (Syracuse and the Canadian League), etc.

It should be noted that William Cain and Terry Day are already in the Varsity “M” Club, Inc. of Morgan Sate University’s Hall of Fame.

Ted was a member of the College Choir while a student at Morgan. He was been a member of the “M” Club since his graduation from Morgan in 1927. He was also a member of the Alumni Association, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and the Saturday Nite Club, which is composed of former Washington, D.C. high school athletes.

As well as coaching, “Ted” was a beloved teacher in the area of Biology and served as chairman of the Biology Department at Armstrong from 1957 to 1959, and in the same position at Eastern High School, Washington D.C. from 1967 to 1971.
