Thomas "Tex" Deane was born in Terrell, Texas and attended F.D. Roosevelt High School in Dallas, Texas where he excelled in football. He matriculated at Morgan State College from 1964 to 1969, earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration.Â
As one of Morgan's outstanding guards, he was described by Coach Banks as "... one of the hardest working players on the field." He  was rewarded for his hard work by being named All-CIAA and Most Improved Player. He had a stint with the New York Giants football team as a free agent. He was an assistant football coach at Morgan from 1968 to 1970.

Upon earning an MBA at Morgan State University in 1973, he became an assistant Professor at the university's Evening School, teaching Business Management and Marketing.
He a member of the Varsity "M" Club, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Golden Bears Association.
Currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
