William H. Brown attended Cardoza High School in Washington, D.C. and enrolled in Morgan in 1953, graduating in 1957.
   
"Brownie" was a swimmer with unusual ability. Swimming by "Brownie" was considered an artistic treat. He wa the master of many techniques.

Considered one of the greatest swimmers of Morgan and in the CIAA, "Brownie" was unbeatable in the breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle. During his tenure at Morgan, "Brownie" was a member of the 1954 Championship Team. Member of the 300 yard Medley Relay, which was a record holding event for Morgan. He placed second in the 100 and 200 yard breast-stroke in 1954.
   
In 1955, again CIAA champion, "Brownie" placed second in the 300-yard Medley Relay; 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. In 1956, he was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team, champion in the 200-yard breaststroke, and CIAA champion.
   
In 1957, "Brownie" was elected team captain. This was the year that he was unbeatable. He won the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, 100 yard freestyle, and was a member of the 400 yard freestyle championship team. He was again selected CIAA champion. "Brownie" was voted outstanding swimmer in the CIAA in the same year. 
   
"Brownie" was a member of the Dormitory Council and the Intramural Advisory Council. He was an honor student and won the Certificate of Meritorious Scholarship Award in 1955-56 of Alpha Kappa Mu. In addition, he won an Academic Scholarship to Springfield College in 1957, where he earned his Master's Degree.
   
"Brownie" was the swimming coach at Morgan in 1962 and coached his team to win the CIAA championships.
   
"Brownie" was an active member of the "M" club.
