HAMPTON, Va -- The Morgan State men's tennis team (7-4, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) recorded a quick 4-0 victory over Hampton to capture its sixth-straight Saturday afternoon at the Neilson-Screen Tennis Stadium.Â
Dating back to its March 3rd match against Johns Hopkins, the Bears have run off six straight wins, including three shutouts this season.
In doubles action, Shrey Gupta and Nihit Rawal earned the first win of the day with a 6-4 win over Charles Hudson and Davy Van Geerke at the No. 2 spot. Then, the tandem of Ogukhan Ceylan and Sebastian Lopez took down Fernando Fernandes and Matt Foster-Estwick, 7-5, to claim the doubles point and remain unblemished in doubles action with a 4-0 record.Â
Morgan State came out quick and took all three singles over the Pirates (1-9, 1-1 MEAC). Lopez, the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week, captured the first singles win with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Fernandes at the No. 3 spot. Lucas Krusinski battled to a three set win over Foster-Estwick at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. Gupta finished off the match by recording a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 2.Â
The Bears will travel to Annapolis (Md.) to take on the Navy on Saturday, April 7 at 8:30 a.m. at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
