Men’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Result at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (April 13, 2022) – The Morgan State men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 non-conference decision to the Delaware Blue Hens at Tuesday afternoon at Delaware Tennis Center.
 
Delaware (13-8) improved its winning streak to eight-consecutive matches, while the Bears fell to 8-7 overall for the season.

The Blue Hens jumped out quickly as they took the doubles point while dropping just two points. The duo of James Wilkinson and Pierce Gilheany opened things up with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position over the pairing of Mikeal Carpenter and Nihit Rawal. Guilherme Valdoleiros and Pascal Wagemaker clinched it with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 against Makkijha Brown and Martial Kawunde.

Alexandre Gluck kept the momentum with UD as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Makkijha Brown at No. 3 to start singles play. Valdoleiros also cruised to victory, defeating Martial Kawunde 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6. James Wilkinson sealed the Delaware win with a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 1 versus Mikeal Carpenter.

Next Up
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 15 when they face the James Madison Dukes (13-5) in a neutral-site matchup to be played in York, Pa. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
