The primary objective of the Trade Licensing and Consumer Legislation Department in the area of consumer protection is the fulfilment of the Consumer Policy Strategy 2021 - 2030. In particular the following matters are considered as high-priority objectives: safety of products and services, protection of consumers´ economic interests, ensuring of control over the market, reinforcing of the law enforceability, legislative actions, cooperation with consumer associations, consumer education and awareness.
The amendment to the Act on Prices brings a number of changes to the sale of goods and services to consumers. In particular, it reintroduces the obligation to indicate the unit price of packaged non-food products.
On December, 2, 2024, the Commission Implementing Regulation determining the output indicators relevant for the General Product Safety Regulation was published.
On 12 December 2024, Act No 387/2024 on general product safety and amending certain related acts was published in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic. This Act adapts national law to the General Product Safety Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council.
