Entering his sixth year at the Naval Academy, Scott Maher, RD, CSSD, CSCS, is the Assistant Athletic Director for Dietetics and Sports Performance. Maher is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Prior to coming to Navy, Maher was an Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition at Rutgers.
Starting at Rutgers in August of 2015 as a Strength and Conditioning Intern, Maher used his background in nutrition to work with athletes, in addition to his time spent on strength and conditioning. During that time, a new Performance Nutrition Department was founded at Rutgers and Maher immediately joined that program as an intern in May of 2016. As a sports dietitian intern, he provided one-on-one and team nutrition education to Olympic sport athletic teams, as well as managing the athletes’ fueling stations across the campus and coordinating meals for teams that centered around their respective training and competition schedules. Over the next three years, Maher was promoted from intern to Assistant Sports Dietitian in March of 2017 to Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition in July of 2018.
Maher has received board certification in Sports Dietetics, NSCA certification in Strength and Conditioning and certification as a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
A 2014 graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics, Maher completed a dietetic internship at Rutgers University’s School of Health Related Professions, graduating in May of 2015.
