I didn't realize that when I purchased the e-sim that it would start the day you buy it instead of like other e-sims which can be purchased in advance and set the date for travel date. So I asked for a refund and they did give me a refund. Maybe warning customers about the start date begins right away would prevent this kind of mistake? Or Ubigi can make changes in their system so that customers can purchase e-sims for later travel date.
Ubigi eSim works as advertised. Download and installation was easy. I tuned off my physical Sim at the airport, turned on the eSim and restarted my phone and I had internet. When I needed to use my phone function one day, I just reversed the process for a brief call and then reverted back to Ubigi. It was far cheaper than paying my home carrier's daily roaming fees.
My family and I stayed connected throughout our trip to Japan without any issues. I had no trouble communicating with work or family back in Manila. The only minor problem was my daughter having some difficulty using the map inside a building to find a restaurant, but everything else went smoothly. The experience, including setting up the eSIM, was much better than pre-pandemic.
Do not purchase eSIM cards from this company as it’s a total scam. I bought one when I traveled to China and reception was on zero bars the entire time. As a result my data was on LTE the whole time even though I followed the installation steps and troubleshooting steps. When I requested a refund from the company they just never replied even though I chased them up many times. Purchasing this eSIM was the worst choice I’ve made and should’ve just went with my usual Airalo and it’s far better than these scammers. My family was quite distressed and it made travelling around very difficult without any internet data.

I was under the impression that the plan will only start once you are in your destination country and not the second you signed up , wasted $10

Sometimes the bars would indicate a full connection but internet and especially google maps would not work sometimes. Almost got stranded a few times because google maps stopped working on Ubigi and my phone battery was low

Didn’t like that you couldn’t change the currency from USD to maybe Yen or AUD and that there was no 5GB plans
