Been with them 20+ years and service slowly got worse. Calls cut off, limited opening hours for the call centre, problems not always resolved and the website is very limited. They claim to listen to feedback but improvements are not made.

Avoid. No app, which I didn't realise until too late (made the mistake of assuming every bank nowadays would have one). Have only managed to Login once - Login never works, and if you click on 'Forgotten password' their only solution is to post you new codes which take up to three weeks to arrive. They then also did not work. Called Customer Service, to say codes had been revoked - they didn't know why. And that the ONLY thing they could do was send me some more out via the post, which could take up to three weeks... And then might not work... I actually feel that they've stole my money at this stage, as I cannot access it, and the staff are powerless to help.

I have just called to close my account and almost changed my mind as the people at Cahoot have always been so courteous and helpful. This time was just as good and the young lady answered quickly, and made it easy. Only closing as not using the account and felt unnecessary to keep. But I may be back :)

I have been trying to close my account since last September 2024. Advised this cannot be done online and that I must phone. I have been phoning regularly since then (including sending two emails asking for my account to be closed). No-one answers the phone. I have been holding on now for 20 minutes. I'm about to hang up out of sheer frustration!!!!!! What appalling customer service.

Trying to understand the bad reviews of Cahoot…

I cannot work out that other people have had so much hassle or they did not follow the instrutions correctly I opened joint account early Sept 1924 had to wait for the letters that came seperatly day after each other I gues this is to verify your address as soon has I had the ifo that was in the two letters I completed opening the account all went well I made a phone call to cahoot to verify I had done everything was good and account was live I transferd £10 to check it out and then next day £100 all went well I have now continued using the account as normal with no hitch at all I have phoned the twice to check some things and found them very helpful I do what they asked me to do by using only One bank to trasfer money into and out of Cahoot a/c and I make any payments from the other bank which works fine Cahoot is not a High Street Bank .At the moment I have not single complaint about them but at the moment I have only been putting money and not taken any out but I will try today after reading the negative comments. I will post on here my result of this exercise.

Password reset is BY POST

This is my second review after it took nearly three weeks to even get the account open. Luckily, I only put a small sum in it as a test, and not my entire savings! Today I made my first attempt at paying someone from the money that is in there. Well, I have made some mistake and got locked out. I hoped it would just be temporary, and I'd be able to log in again later, but no, once you've been locked out, you've got to start again with the POSTAL login process that already took weeks in the first place! I made sure I had all the details to hand for an online reset. I got to the end, but it asked me to confirm my address to put the reset details IN THE POST! The login is ridiculously cumbersome, and almost designed to trick you into making mistakes and getting locked out. Then you've got to begin all over again BY POST. This faff is not worth the interest that may be due to me after a whole year. If I charged my time at the minimum wage, it has already cost more than I stand to receive.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever
Nothing but trouble since being with them.
I opened a account deposited over £1000
No problem !
Couldn't log into my account for 2 months , had to wait 3 weeks to get password stuff
That didn't work so had to wait another 3 weeks before receiving log on details, eventually it worked up untill today?? I deposited £150. All fine easy to except my money,
I logged in to check my balance was correct with correct login details, can't get in yet again ?? Unbelievable, got to phone and complain again on Monday, which I know I will have to wait again for all the pass codes, who needs all this, my daughter chose all the passwords and numbers as I'm old and she has access to these details as it's money I am saving for my Grandaughter, if I dropped dead there is no way she could get this money after all how could she,I can't get into my account,so she hasn't got a hope in hell. Need to close this account asap deposit with a reliable bank, can't believe Santander own this bank, that's the only reason I went with them as I am a Santander customer for years so steer clear

Just like others ‘wish I had read the…

Just like others ‘wish I had read the reviews first as well!’ Absolutely agree - so many hoops even though an existing Santander customer which I believe they are joined to? Phone application was apparently ok, but then got email asking further id checks. Sent them, heard nothing and heard nothing. On chasing apparently whilst passport and driving licence ‘were fine’ they wanted signature page as well - shame it wasn't asked for in their notes on what to send! Too much like hard work - should be a standardised procedure not just one made up by half baked banks!

So far so good

So far so good. Opened an account, received the log in ID and password on separate days. Changed the account ID with no problem. Suspect most negative comments here are because people forgot their log in details. On the plus side, I am reassured by the fact that you can't get an instant password reset by email. I suspect there's also a huge demand due to high interest rates. I would have given 5 stars except for the lack of an App.

Acceptable

I was surprised to read the poor reviews below. Admittedly, it took me quite a lot of time and effort to open a Cahoot savings account as a new customer. But it now seems to work well, including same-day withdrawals even at weekends. The secure website is clearly modelled on the website of Santander, which is a sister company of Cahoot.

If I could give them zero stars I…

If I could give them zero stars I would, Avoid this company like the plague. It took me only 20 minutes to open the account online (so far so good). However, 3 weeks after opening the account I still haven't received my letter with the temporary password to allow me to transfer the funds. I invest regularly with multiple organisations and Cahoot is by far the worst. The customer service assistant said they are running behind and to be patient. But as an investor you lose money every day by their incompetence.

So far, so good

I read lots of reviews here and nearly abandoned my account setup (I'd already received login details through the post). But I went to MoneySavingExpert and read some more reasoned comments. I've just set up my account, which pays 1% more than my other savings account with another bank. All very straightforward. I transferred money in, out again and back in. I just want an account which is going to pay me good interest. So far, so good.

I have had enough - site not easily accesible needs to have an App

Received 4 letters as i requested a joint account what a nightmare to register one account holder let alone two. Website refused my attempts to set my log on and password - tried on multiple laptops and bookmarked the site on my iphone, - Also i was trying to set my cahoot account as a payee from my bank account so as to pay money in and that failed as the bank of scotland security system doesnt recognise Cahoot as a bonified company. Cahoot doent allow me to log back in
I have had enough and although the account exists I shall not be using it looked online to see how i can close this account but nothing so assume i have to ring Cahoot. which i am not going to be wasting my time further to do,
Cahoot doesnt even comment/respond to these reviews so why should i make any more effort

wish i read the reviews first

wish i read the reviews first - thankfully i didnt transfer all my savings into the account, i just did a small amount in case there was an issue. turns out the issue is with Cahoot's terrible online banking system that kicks you out every 30 seconds - literally. Santander, be ashamed. what a collosal waste of consumer's time. as soon as i get my money out i wont bother again. awful. and long postage times too.

No customer support service email address/Calls ONLY.

No customer service email address (it is listed but not "valid") not helpful to older people, with certain impairment - they seem to insist on calls - not particularly helpful if you have got the disability. Website refused my attempts to set my log on and password - tried on multiple laptops, still no avail. This seems to happen only in certain banks -they got to fix this problem once and for all. No calls only, please. It does seem to be the unhelpful trend.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

Avoid at all costs! So much hassle trying to set up the account after not receiving a second letter with a security pin in order to get started. Waited for nearly 2 weeks before ringing Cahoot and explaining my issue. The woman tells me I need to hang up in order for her to ring me back so I can answer some security questions (I thought this odd since I had already answered some security questions but complied) so I wait and I never receive the call back.
This is giving me red flags but I still persist (the high interest rate highly appealing I was willing to give them a second shot) so I ring again this time I speak to someone more helpful.
A few days later I finally receive my second letter so I can at last set up my account. Put in all the necessary information, even change the username and security pin to something more memorable. Try and log in, nothing. An error messages appears telling me to ring customer service bear in mind they don’t open the next day till 8am. All information is correct, I try multiple times but am met with the same message.
Do not entrust your money with Cahoot, way too dodgy and way too many hiccups to even consider them safe.

So slow to log on.

I opened an account without reading any reviews that was my mistake. It has taken 14 days to receive my log in details which is ridiculous . Logging on is fine from a computer but if like me you want to view on your mobile then forget it.Each time you log on they send you a code via your phone and it does not allow you enough time to type into your mobile.Desktop is fine however. Not for me, far too long winded to log on and withdraw your money.

What's not to like about Cahoot

I have read a lot of negative feedback but my experience has been nothing but positive. I had a query and easily contacted Customer Services, who appear to to be UK based, and found them extremely professional and helpful. The account was really easy to open. Extra login verification is in place by text message, but this can only be a good thing. You can transfer any amount in and out, and to and from any bank. All transfers are "Instant", which is brilliant. So many other banks are still in the Ark, and could learn a lot from Cahoot.
