Crying laughing at Jackie’s review and also the review at Colchester 😂 if they told you to p**s off I imagine you probably behaved in a way to deserve it. Went into a branch recently and the way the customers are treating staff is appalling. No “are you ok? “How are you doing? Just callously walking up to staff and blurting out “when are you closing?

Really feel for the staff. All the customers giving 1 star reviews should be ashamed of themselves. Obviously dragged up and not taught any humility and decency growing up.

The staff are excellent and there's some brilliant bargains in the administration sale. The prices are sometimes cheaper than what's stated on the ticket also.

However, Whilst I appreciate it's a
DIY store, it isn't very clean and my hands were black when I left.

Some of the stock had clearly been there for some time and I noticed items that had a 'use by' date of early 2020! - nearly 5 years ago. It makes it clear to see why the business has failed to be honest.

Worst experience ever ordering online. Ordered an item on the 12th December and paid for next day delivery to then being told it would arrive before the 20th. Still no delivery and then eventually it arrives on the 27th which was meant to be a Xmas present but that didn’t happen. Everyone I spoke to an advisor they basically lied every time. First and last time I’ll be ordering anything from here

Rubbish

I ordered three things on the 12th of December. I hadn't received a delivery update so I emailed. The response was they had gone in to administration and it would be dispatched soon. Fast forward 6 days, I emailed again due to no update. I was then told it hadn't reached the warehouse! I was told it would be dispatched and take 3 working days to arrive. However, I had a message from yodel to say the sender had requested
the parcel back!!! I emailed again to find out the items haven't even been dispatched!!!! I see why Homebase has gone into administration. If they cannot fulfil deliveries, then they shouldn't take the order or money. To not be given any update is terrible.

Used Rayleigh Homebase to buy a complete bathroom. On installation we discovered a part was missing so we went back to the store who told us they didn’t realise it wasn’t included and they could not order as they don’t even make the part (in black) even though the whole bathroom design was black that we was sold and designed with them. I was told I would have to find the part elsewhere.
Not good when you have the bathroom fitter at your house waiting for the part.
Secondly went to the store recently brought a trim which was the wrong size. Went back to return 30 minutes later and was told they are unable to refund or exchange due to administration. There was no signs on entry or around the store only just after the till. Which is to late once you’ve paid. Asked for a manager who was then rude and argumentative. Now stuck with a trim I don’t need.
Went to wicks to get the right one

Contractual parking charge notice.

Contractual parking charge notice.

Not only did I spend over £300 in store but got lumbered with a parking charge for being 14 minutes over the allocated time. What kind of organisation charges people for spending money in store. ( One that's gone bust obviously). It's not like it's a pay and display car park. I thought you would want people to browse and spend. Not surprised people don't go in store when you can go to B and Q for free.

Pigs can fly

Went into homebase in Basingstoke, asked if the display Christmas decorations was for sale, the staff said they was waiting to hear from head office, when they can be sold, then a staff(women) sold candy canes from that display to a customer, when I asked she said they were broken and the customer was going to try and fix them, what you are going to buy broken items, and they came from the display that nothing can be sold and pigs can fly

Unreliable delivery and unhelpful customer service department

I placed an online order in November. Part of the order was delivered a few days later than it should have been. I contacted customer services and requested delivery of the remaining part of the order which was intended as a Christmas gift. I was assured that it would be delivered in the next few days. I have not yet received the missing item though my online account falsely suggests that delivery is complete. I have contacted customer services by email several times but I am told that customer services have no capability of reviewing my order or resolving the delivery shortfall. Apparently, they cannot advise a delivery date and have simply advised me to await delivery whenever that may happen. Clearly, this is totally unhelpful (especially given that it is a Christmas gift!).and ignores the fact that I placed my order, and paid for it in November. Truly inadequate and unreliable service from Homebase.

Sofa bed not arrived for 1 month, delivery cancelled multiple times

I ordered a sofa bed from Homebase which was due to arrive on 20th November. The latest update is that it will hopefully arrive on 20th December, although I am not holding my breath for it to turn up. The original delivery date has changed to the 27th November, 11th December, 18th December and now 20th December - failing to turn up on every occasion. On the 11th, I had confirmation from the customer service team via phone call that it was out for delivery between 11am-5pm. I watched the tracking link until 9pm when the delivery van got as close as 10 miles from my house before turning round back to the depot. After complaining, the Homebase team changed my delivery slot to the 18th December. No surprises it didn’t turn up. Truly awful experience, not sure if it’s Homebase or XPO’s fault but I would avoid both at all costs.

Laughing at Ben Hutchinson review…

Laughing at Ben Hutchinson review below. What makes you think if a member of staff abuses customers that the customer had done something to deserve it?

Was it you by any chance? That why you're in here writing your drivel? Did you put your big boy pants on before you started writing that drivel?

It was one specific member of staff who was abusive, not any of the others. As the review says he made it clear there was no HR for the customer to complain to, clearly insinuating that gave him all the freedom he needed to be as rude as he wanted.

Good for a comedy sketch. Doesn't work in real life.

The whole point of being customer facing in retail is to keep your cool when customers complain. Not swear at them like a drunk just because his fragile little ego got tested slightly.

And all this pity??? It's a checkout job at a DIY store. It isn't a mining town in the mid 1980s. There are jobs like this literally everywhere. The nation has full employment. Go play your snowflake violin somewhere else eh?

…bullish behaviour lack customer care

There are staff in this shop that bring the place down I feel ..
A course in customer care wouldn't be wasted in this store a certain woman in this store screaming at me cos I wanted to exchange a tin of paint from one colour to another I bought it months ago hadn't got the receipt but they know me form going in and out ..well this particular individual does... she even knows my sister ..made a holy show of me .
I've never been spoke to before in any shop .. It's not what she said but how she said it ..like I was doing crime or something I shouldn't
I really had a feeling of emm did I do something to upset her maybe I shouldn't ask these things I was left a bit puzzled and definitely got a sense of I don't like you ..llike there a nice way to say things ..hope the new owner s read theses as I said not all them are this way but deffo one or 2 and both are woman

Picked up an extremely dirty package with clear signs of damage. When unboxed at home, the damaged to the package was reflected on the TV stand. Couldn’t call the store so had to make a second 15 mile round trip to collect a second package.
