I was given an Otterbox Defender as a gift. It was bought in Mar 2023 and gas a 7 year warranty. It started to fall apart 2 weeks ago and I contacted their warranty dept. They told me that the Otterbox Defender was discontinued due to technical changes with the new phones. When I asked about the 7 year warranty I was told that they are not producing the item and that they would give me a 40% discount on a new case. As they don't make the case for my phone (Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G) anymore, a 40% discount doesn't mean anything. When I asked for a refund they said that was not going to happen. When I asked about the 7 year warranty, they would not answer. Extremely poor customer service, nonexistent warranty, and outright lies about warranty. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY WHAT THEIR WARRANTY STATEMENT SAYS....THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES.

I am deeply dissatisfied with my experience with OtterBox. Their website claims returns are possible, but the return policy page doesn’t load, leaving customers without clear instructions. When I contacted their customer service, they claimed there was “no issue” with their website, despite the fact that I could not access essential return information.
On top of that, I was forced to pay 15€ out of my own pocket to return their product—something that should have been covered by them, especially given the lack of transparency. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers and feels deliberately dishonest.
OtterBox should be ashamed of how they handle returns. I won’t be buying from them again, and I will make sure others are aware of these unfair practices. Avoid this company unless you’re ready to deal with hidden costs and poor customer care!
I'll start with the biggest annoyance, which isn't Otterbox's issue directly but impacted on the experience. They ship using Evri (in the UK at least), so it took longer than the two days quoted. If I'd known this and had the option of another delivery service, I probably would have taken it as Evri do have a bit of a reputation. When it arrived, the product's box was already open at the top - I suspect it is squashed being pushed through my letterbox. The case itself was in good condition, so that's hopefully a sign of how well it protects a phone.
I bought a Defender XT for iPhone 16 (just switched to Apple - eek). Positives: does feel like it offers chunky protection, certainly makes it easier to identify volume buttons from the action button and no in-built screen protector keeps direct contact with screen. Negatives: some of the edges feel a little sharp in the hand (not in a way that will cut but it feels unfinished), having a smooth plastic back makes my grip less confident and it was a bit fiddley to put on the phone with nothing giving the top ring structure.
Is it bad enough to complain and send back? No. Is it good enough that I'd buy again? No.
Ordered an iPad 10 case and received a used and damaged item. They market their items as new, but send used stuff for the full price. Customer service is impossible to contact and if someone answers after 3 days, then only with an automatic email where they ask again a full description of the case, the personal details etc.

SAVED ME MONEY, BUY FROM OTTERBOX ITS WORTH THE INVESTMENT
I would just like to say otterbox made the case that saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. I dropped my phone in a literal creek and it was in there for 2-3 DAYS. After retrieving it from under a foot of sand, my phone did not even have so much as a scratch on it and was fully functional. I have also thrown my phone over a small pond with an otterbox on and had no scratches or anything of the sort. I also drop my phone all the time and ive never had any problems with scratches or anything like that. This is completely worth every penny and a solid investment for all my clumsy people out there.

I want to share my experience with Otterbox. I took my motorcycle on a trip. I was doing 80 and my phone fell out of its holder and hit the road. My phone was undamaged. Otterbox saved my phone.

Practical rugged designs with perfect customer service
My fantastic Defender XT case for iPhone 16 Pro fits perfectly and feels really rugged like it should be, which is now 3 wks old.
This case was fitted together the Otterbox protective private glass and their easy system really made applying it exactly right, even without any bubbles, so it works perfectly.
On top of that an incorrectly ordered item I returned with the help of quick and clear customer service replies. Totally recommend the quality and customer service of Otterbox (Europe) !

Don't Trust the 2-Day Shipping
I ordered a phone case directly from Otterbox because they offered 2-day shipping if the order was over $50. My order was $52.49, so they included free shipping. 5-Days later, I did not receive my phone so I called them.
They stated, "since the sub-total was $48.71, it was shipped with standard shipping." My phone is now scheduled to arrive 10-days after the order date. I asked if they could ship a case overnight and I would pay the $1.29 difference to make it a $50 order, but they told me this was not possible and offered me a discount for a future purchase.
My family and I have been a loyal customer for 20+ years... Unfortunately, this it not the first time I have had a bad customer experience working with them. I pay a premium for their products and was hopeful they would do the right thing. Sadly, they opened the door for us to look a competitive alternatives.

Inflated prices funding ‘automation’ which is not adding value
Made an order but then wanted to make changes. Contacted customer services immediately but (after some time) was told that, ‘due to their automated process’, I would have to receive the order and return.
Had to then contact customer services again and was told I would receive an ‘automated’ email with RMA instructions. This never arrived so contacted them again and received a manual response with instructions.
Also had to pay for returns which I find odd given I gave the company a chance to not send the order.
Not the worst I’ve experienced but no real explanation offered. I can only assume that the company is struggling with automation issues.
Would not recommend and won’t be ordering again.

Only reason I ordered from otterbox was because they said 2 day guarantee to get em. That's a lie .they haven't even started on my order.they are about worthless and lazy as hell.and they use regular mail for delivery.cheapest possible. Don't believe their 2 day guarantee it's a lie.and they wanna charge ridiculous prices for a piece of plastic.no worries they'll be out of business soon.theres at least 3 new co.who make just as good if not better cases for half the price

Thoroughly impressed
I'm genuinely shocked at the negative reviews for Otterbox. I've used the S21 Ultra Defender since January 2021 and it has protected my phone brilliantly after multiple falls and bumps. I've also had it replaced twice in that time in keeping with their 'lifetime warranty', which was dealt with quickly and efficiently each time. You could argue that due to having it replaced, this review should not warrant 5 stars but I'm understanding that with the sheer amount of daily use of our phones, the chances for wear and tear over time is expected, even with a premium case. I will be continuing to consider Otterbox in the future.

Outerbox is at risk of failing due to competitors like Temu offering much cheaper phone cases. As a Canadian, I was misled by USD pricing on their site, which wasn't clear except in the top corner. I canceled my order within minutes upon realizing this, but Outerbox still shipped the case. Now, I have to pay for return shipping, which doesn't cover what I originally paid. The case was significantly cheaper on Amazon, and customer service was unhelpful. I'm done with Outerbox.

I purchased a MagSafe 2-in-1 Charging stand 8/26/2020. Stopped working two years later. Customer service very hard to get but, when you do process moves along. But, I'm charged $10 shipping of the new charging stand. It's their poor quality merch and I paying shipping from Vietnam. NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. You'll pay for the replacement.

Otterbox refund hell
I bought a defender case for a 16pro, plus wallet, plus the glass to go with it. Then noticed that somehow I was being sent glass for 16pro max. Reached out to the company and sent a standard reply to say nothing they could do and would need to return screen at my expense. So customer service seemed poor but chalked that up to my mistake and bought the correct 16pro screen.
Went to return the pro max screen and their returns process is awful. You have to fill in a form to get an RMA reference, which didn’t arrive despite checking junk mail. Sent another email and provided with RMA finally. The poor experience and the difficulties making a return put me off. So I decided to return everything.
Filled in another couple of return forms for the new glass and the rest of the 1st order. Again, didn’t receive the RMA’s and had more hassle having to email them again and wait for a reply. When that came only gave one RMA. I wrote back to query this but had no response.
I drafted a letter stating all previous order no’s and the refunds due for everything. Otterbox processed the larger refund but failed to refund the returned glass from 2nd order. I wrote to them again and heard nothing back. Wrote again and received a standard email back asking me to confirm details and provide proof of postage. I’d already done that, and they’d obviously received it as everything was sent together. So I’ve given up dealing with Otterbox as their customer service is abysmal.
Instead I contacted Chase bank and asked them to reverse the charge. This took about 10 minutes after providing copies of letter and emails sent. Otterbox can go procreate themselves as I will never buy anything from them again. They charge a premium price for their product but don’t provide a service to match the price point. You’ve been warned, if you need a refund it’s a painful experience.

Otterbox Defender for Ultra 23 no good
First, why doesn't Otterbox allow google reviews...well, I think I may have some idea.
My defender cases for my other phones were so beefy and tough. When I got my defender case for my Samsung 23 Ultra it looked a bit thin, and not as protective. I thought well the engineers at Otterbox know their stuff. Wow. Was I wrong! I'll be looking for other more substantial, and truly protective cases. I would recommend people look to brands other than Otterbox for a better quality product. Otterbox thanks for nothing.

Terrible warranty!
I bought an Apple Watch bumper for my watch less than 6 months ago and it has cracked in 2 places around the crown. I was looking up how to file a warranty claim on the Otterbox website but found that they charge $9.99 for “shipping and handling” services. My item cost $9.99! The bumper itself only weighs 1.058 oz! Surely it cannot cost that much to ship! Any other warranty I’ve had to use through the years will replace the item for free but also will cover the shipping costs as well. Otterbox’s warranty is terrible, especially if purchasing less expensive items. Also, I started to go thru the warranty process but they only showed 4 products on their “Lookup Finder”. My product was not shown and I was prompted to contact Otterbox. For my current situation, this experience has been frustrating and disappointing.

Would give zero stars if I could
Would give zero stars if I could. The worst company. Impossible to return an item. Impossible to speak to somebody over the phone. Customer service won’t speak to you over live chat unless you’re placing a new order. Took ages for my shipping label to arrive. I paid 1st class signed for to return the item. Still no refund even though tracking shows as delivered and signed for a week one. Company now just ignoring my emails. Avoid!
