I'm new to WorldPay but if this is a sign of things to come then I've made the right choice.

Customer service is what counts when things go wrong. WorldPay called me up - without me asking! -
when I had problems.

The gentleman went above and beyond to suggest courses of action to resolve the issue - which was not even of WorldPay's making.

Customer service is what counts

I'm new to WorldPay but if this is a sign of things to come then I've made the right choice.

Customer service is what counts when things go wrong. WorldPay called me up - without me asking! - when I had problems.

The gentleman went above and beyond to suggest courses of action to resolve the issue - which was not even of WorldPay's making.

Excellent customer service.

Appalling treatment of potential new customer

I was badgered for four weeks to open an account with them. Now I'm trying, I have had nothing but trouble, no help and customer service is non existent.

Each time I fulfil a request for documents, I get another request for the same document, or a slightly different document. Sometimes I get multiple emails from different people asking for the same document. 9 different people thus far are dealing with this account, which I have spent over a month trying to open.

This is absolutely disgraceful. The company website and email communications list only one contact number, supposedly for different departments. However, it is the same number and when I called, I was informed that I could not speak to anyone because I do not have an account yet. This, despite having a PO number, which I explained was precisely why I was calling. I was advised to email the person who had contacted me. Which one? There are nine of them!!

I am disgusted by Worldpay’s lack of customer service and generic emails, from a multiude of individuals. Just how many people does it take to set up an account?

If this is how we are treated trying to sign up, then why bother?

Cancelled our account randomly and still hold our funds with no response.

We were approved for an account and then out of nowhere received an email saying our account would be closed. Couldn't get an explanation from anyone as you get passed around numerous people at their call centres.

The most annoying part is that having been told we would be able to use the WorldPay service and if there was an issue we would receive a full refund WorldPay continue to ignore all our emails and still hold our funds.

I recently created a Worldpay account with the assistance of one of their Regional Business Managers. Before proceeding, we had a meeting where the manager stated that each transaction fee would be 1.3% + 20p. I specifically asked if there were any additional charges, and he assured us there would be no joining fee and no monthly fee. Based on this information, we decided to proceed with creating an account.

After setting up the account on the "Pay As You Go" plan, we received a direct debit notification from our bank a few days later. When we followed up with the manager, he revealed there would be a £60 annual PCI compliance fee (£5 per month)—a charge he completely failed to mention during our meeting.

Next came our first transaction using the Worldpay payment link. Since it was my first time processing a payment, I called the manager to confirm details about the currency rate and transaction fees. He reassured me again that the only charges would be 1.3% + 20p, with no additional fees.

Trusting his word, I sent the payment link to my client, who completed the payment. However, the next day, I was shocked to see a 2.9% + 20p transaction fee deducted instead. When I contacted the manager to ask why the rate was higher, he explained that fees vary depending on the type of card (e.g., debit card, credit card, Amex, personal card, or commercial card).

This crucial detail was never disclosed during our initial meeting or any of the follow-up calls before processing the payment.

I have an experiences of using several payment gatways and did't expect Worldpay is not transparent. If you’re new to payment gateways and lack experience, you might end up having the same frustrating experience as I did. My advice is to ask for all details in writing before creating an account with Worldpay. Also, be mindful of your contract's expiry terms if you plan to close the account, and read every line carefully.

One more thing I found ridiculous: the manager sent me an email asking me to leave a positive review here. He even provided a suggested template in his email, stating:
"If you could then just put in your details—your Merchant ID is xxxxxxxx—and write something like this:
'We recently signed with Worldpay, and (the manager's name) helped make the whole process very easy. We are very pleased with the Card Payment Facility and its smooth operation. I would suggest Worldpay to anyone interested in taking card payments.'”

Of course, I’m not going to leave a fake review as requested. I am incredibly disappointed with Worldpay. I raised a complaint, but after 15 working days, I still haven’t received any reply or confirmation. Even after calling them to close my account, there has been no response or resolution.

The only decent aspect of their service is their customer hotline—the calls are answered quickly, and the staff are polite and helpful. However, that does not make up for the poor experience overall.

Thank you for your response. I sincerely hope that the investigation leads to a genuine resolution and that this isn’t just a situation where the customer is blamed or asked to pay for something that’s not their fault.

Additionally, the card machine has been unusable for some time now and is currently just collecting dust. There’s also been a lot of misinformation regarding the charges, which I’ve noticed in other reviews as well, and I believe this is unfair to the customers.

I’m looking forward to speaking with someone soon, and once again, I truly hope that the resolution offered is both fair and meaningful. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Quick and Easy

Getting a card machine with WorldPay was a much better experience than I've had with other suppliers. It was quicker, simpler, and Alex was very helpful in going through the necessary information.
