Description

After seven years, the European Union has funded 147 pan-European research projects dealing with environment and health issues, receiving around €550 million from the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Activities (2007-2013).

These projects have increased our knowledge on health issues of concern to a large number of European citizens, ranging from health impacts of nanoparticles or chemicals to quality of air in our homes, schools and workplaces. This overview analyses the trends observed, gives details on the projects funded and lists the countries and institutions that have participated in the projects. This information should be useful to many stakeholders including the scientific community and regulatory authorities.
