IVET offers an alternative educational pathway, blending vocational training with academic learning. Skills-based learning is essential in today’s world, and eTwinning projects are a perfect match. eTwinning projects help vocational students to gain practical experience, preparing them for the workplaces they plan to join.

Shaping the student experience

eTwinning transforms the vocational classroom environment, providing an effective platform for students to engage with content in an open, interdisciplinary and collaborative way.

By working in international groups, students are more motivated and have the chance to practise important soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork and time management. By working together with pupils from other countries, students can learn about the needs of their sector in another country and explore new opportunities for their own development.

eTwinning projects play a crucial role in shaping students’ professional identities: they encourage continuous learning and allow students to develop adaptability to changes in work processes and social dynamics.’

eTwinning projects often use project-based learning to help students build entrepreneurship skills. By tackling real-world challenges similar to those they might face during an internship or in their career, students develop a more entrepreneurial mindset that prepares them for self-employment or future jobs.

Other projects focus on learning through service, encouraging students to engage with their communities and take an active role as citizens.

Some eTwinning projects also introduce students to scientific research methods, or help students develop coding and technological innovation skills.

eTwinning can also help give career guidance to IVET students, helping them to explore potential vocational paths. Activities such as career days, professional promotion videos and digital contests provide real-world insights and build essential career skills.

I am a graduate, and in my work life I approached the difficulties I experienced with analytical thinking and great patience, as a result of my experience in eTwinning projects.

And of course, eTwinning can help pupils to find Erasmus+ exchanges, through IVET internships or study in other countries, so they can acquire fluency in other European languages and participate in face-to-face exchanges.
