Agriloop is an international project to boost circular agriculture in Europe and China. It will develop and share new ways of converting agricultural waste residues into bio-products to create economic, social and environmental opportunities for the agricultural sector.

‘Zrno eko imanje’ is a farm in Croatia which has been applying regenerative agricultural practices since 1988. Maintaining a high level of soil health without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemical pesticides is central to young farmer David Pejić’s management of the company.

An online ad-hoc expert meeting took place on 12 June 2024. The 30 experts each joined one of three different workshops to contribute to the preparatory work of three new EU CAP Network Focus Groups.

In 2024/2025, three new EU CAP Network Focus Groups will take place on the following topics:

• Theme 1: New plant protein sources / production of protein or leguminous crops under climate change
• Theme 2: Local plant genetic resources in view of climate change and biodiversity loss
• Theme 3: Alternative strategies for sustainable livestock systems

The circular bioeconomy offers many opportunities to improve the lives of farmers, foresters and rural communities across the EU. EIP-AGRI Operational Groups can play an active role in creating new cooperation models and testing new technologies in practice. Discover several innovative examples in a dedicated article which can be found on pages 4-6 of the latest edition of the Agrinnovation Magazine.

The new Horizon Europe project SERIGO held its kick-off meeting in April 2024. SERIGO will conduct community-based participatory research, through case studies and pilot testing, and provide policy recommendations on how social innovation can enhance resilience, social inclusion, and well-being in European rural areas.

The ToNoWaste Horizon Europe project was set up to discover successful approaches for food waste prevention and reduction. It will provide farmers, supply chain companies, consumers, and policy-makers with more objective, integrated, and standardised information about the impacts and global co-benefits of such prevention and reduction strategies.

Interreg Europe project Down to Earth has published a thematic report which delves into the pressing issue of rural depopulation and its correlation with environmental risks exacerbated by climate change.

CBE JU (Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking) has signed grant agreements with 31 project teams selected from their 2023 calls. This represents €215 million in funding to advance competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe and to develop new circular and sustainable products and solutions for the market.

Sign up to the Tudi newsletter on reversing soil degredation. Tudi is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to develop, upscale and popularise soil healing strategies in three major agricultural systems and farm typologies across Europe, China and New Zealand.

An online "Innovations in Forestry" workshop, organised by the Rural Networks of Estonia, Finland, Latvia, and Poland, will take place on 18 June 2024. The goal is to foster networking and knowledge exchange on projects from Nordic-Baltic countries on the topic of forestry.
