Event triggers
Use an event trigger to run an automation at a specific time of day, when you use an alarm on your phone or when you do an Apple Watch workout.
The Time of Day trigger has the following options:
Sunrise: Triggers your automation at sunrise, as determined by your current location in the Weather app.
Sunset: Triggers your automation at sunset, as determined by your current location in the Weather app.
Tip: If you select Sunrise or Sunset, you can set the automation to run 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours or 4 hours, before or after.
Time Before: Triggers your automation at a specific time, determined by the option you choose from the list.
Repeat: Select which day or days you want your automation to run.
Daily: Triggers your automation every day.
Weekly: Triggers your automation on the selected days.
Monthly: Triggers your automation on the selected day of the month.
The Alarm trigger has the following options:
Is Snoozed: Triggers your automation when you snooze the selected alarm.
Is Stopped: Triggers your automation when you stop the selected alarm.
Alarms: Select from the following options:
Any: Triggers your automation when any active alarm goes off in the Clock app.
Existing: Triggers your automation when a specific alarm goes off in the Clock app. (After you select this option, select an alarm from the list of alarms you’ve saved in the Clock app.)
Wake-up: Triggers your automation at your wake-up time, as set in the Bedtime category of the Clock app.
The Sleep trigger has the following options:
Wind Down Begins: Triggers your automation when you’re winding down for bed.
Bedtime Begins: Triggers your automation when it’s time for bed.
Waking Up: Triggers your automation when the Wake Up alarm goes off.
Note: To use Sleep triggers, you set up a sleep schedule in the Health app. See Health App in the iPhone User Guide.
The Apple Watch Workout trigger has the following options:
Workout Type: Tap this option, then choose one or more workout types to launch your automation (or choose Any Workout).
When Workout: Choose when in your workout you want to run your automation. There are three options: Start, End or Starts or Ends (triggers the automation at the start and end of your workout).
Note: To use Apple Watch Workout triggers, you need to pair your iPhone with an Apple Watch.
