Enter text on Apple TV
There are several ways to enter text on Apple TV.
Use the on-screen keyboard
When a keyboard appears on-screen on Apple TV, use the Siri Remote to do any of the following:
Enter a character using Siri Remote (2nd generation or later): Press left, right, up or down on the clickpad ring or swipe across the clickpad to highlight an on-screen character, then press the clickpad centre to select the character.
Enter a character using Siri Remote (1st generation): Swipe across the touch surface or tap the left or right side of the touch surface to highlight an on-screen character, then press the touch surface to select the character.
Change keyboards: Press the Play/Pause button one or more times to switch to upper case, numeric or special symbol keyboards, or select the upper case, lower case, numeric or special symbol icons to switch keyboards.
Change the keyboard language: Select the language button until the keyboard language you want appears. This option appears only if you’ve added additional languages in Settings. See Change the language or region format on Apple TV.
Enter an alternative character (such as a letter with an accent mark): Navigate to the character, then press and hold the clickpad centre or touch surface to select an option.
Use Siri
Whenever you see a text entry field, you can use your voice instead of using the on-screen keyboard.
On the Siri Remote, press and hold the Siri button and say the text you want to enter. You can even speak individual characters — for example, when entering user names and passwords.
For more information, see Use Siri dictation on Apple TV.
Use an iOS or iPadOS keyboard to type on Apple TV
Optionally, you can use your iOS or iPadOS device’s keyboard to enter text on Apple TV.
Whenever a text field appears on Apple TV, a notification appears on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, tap the notification and enter text in the keyboard that appears.
Text you enter on the iOS or iPadOS device automatically appears in the text field on Apple TV.
