Import and export browsing data in Safari on Mac
You can import data you exported from another browser into Safari, and export selected data from Safari to import into another browser.
You can export selected data from Safari, then import that data into another browser.
Data you can import and export includes:
Bookmarks
History
Extensions
Credit cards
Passwords
Import data from another browser into Safari
Go to the Safari app on your Mac.
Choose File > Import Browsing Data from File or Folder.
Click Choose File or Folder.
Choose the file (or folder of files) to import.
Individual files might be available for each piece of browsing data, such as bookmarks and history.
Click Import.
Any passwords you import go into the Passwords app.
WARNING: For security, delete the file or folder you imported. It may include unencrypted data and could be visible to anyone who can access it.
Export Safari data to another browser
Go to the Safari app on your Mac.
Choose File > Export Browsing Data to File.
Select the data to export.
If you created profiles for your browsing in Safari, choose the profile you want to export data from, or choose All Profiles.
Each profile has its own history and extensions data. The data for bookmarks, credit cards, and passwords is the same across all profiles.
Click Download.
Enter a name and choose a location for the exported data, then click Save.
The exported data is saved as a .zip file.
WARNING: Your exported data is not encrypted and is visible to anyone who can access the files. After you import the data into another browser, delete the file you exported.
