Get notified when someone’s location changes in Find My on Mac
You can receive a notification when your friend, family member or other contact arrives at or leaves a location, or if they’re not at a specific location during a set schedule. For example, you can be notified if your child isn’t at school during school hours.
Important: Make sure you allow notifications for the Find My app. See Notifications settings.
Get notified when your friend’s location changes
Go to the Find My app on your Mac.
Click People, select a name, then click on the map.
Below Notifications, click Add, then choose Notify Me.
Choose whether you want to be notified when a friend arrives at, leaves or is not at a location.
Choose a location, or click New Location to create a new location and set a location radius.
With a larger radius, you’re notified when your friend is close to the location instead of right at the location.
Depending on the notification, you can choose how often or when you want to be notified
Frequency: Select whether you want to be notified only once or every time.
Time and Days: Select a start and an end time, then select the days of the week.
Click Add, then click OK.
What does your friend see?
If you set a one-off notification: Your friend gets an alert immediately after you set the notification.
If you set a recurring notification: Your friend must approve it before it’s set. They get an alert asking for approval when they arrive at or leave the location you chose, or on the time and day the notifications start.
Note: You can only create recurring notifications for friends who have two-factor authentication turned on.
You can also notify a friend when your location changes or change or turn off Find My notifications at any time.
Note: Location sharing and finding people aren’t available in all countries or regions.
