Add and download music on Mac
As soon as you join Apple Music, you can add songs, albums, playlists and music videos from Apple Music to your music library, which is accessible from your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch whenever you’re signed into Music.
After you add music to your music library, you can download it to your computer or device to play at any time, even when you’re offline.
Note: Music you download from Apple Music to your computer can’t be burned to a disc or added to a device, such as iPad or iPod. Music can only be downloaded to a device directly from Apple Music. See About syncing your Mac and your devices.
In the Music app on your Mac, do any of the following to find music you want to add or download:
View recommendations tailored for you: Click For You in the sidebar on the left, then scroll through the various categories such as Recently Played and If You Like.
See what’s new in Apple Music: Click Browse in the sidebar on the left, then click a category (New This Week, Music by Mood and so on).
Search the Apple Music catalogue: Click in the search field in the top-left corner of the Music window, enter a word or phrase, then click Apple Music on the right side of the window.
To add music to your music library, do one of the following:
Click the More button next to an item (such as a song or album), then choose Add to Library.
Hold the pointer over an item, then click the Add button .
If you don’t see these options, either you’re not signed into Apple Music using your Apple ID or the Sync Library option is not selected in Music preferences. Choose Music > Preferences, click General, make sure Sync Library is selected, then click OK.
To download music to your computer, click the More button , then choose Download.
Optionally, you can click the Download button next to the item.
