Change settings in Final Cut Pro for Mac
A setting modifies how a particular Final Cut Pro feature behaves. Most settings can be turned on or off at any time. The following topics describe Final Cut Pro settings in detail.
Open Final Cut Pro settings
Choose Final Cut Pro > Settings (or press Command-Comma), then click a button at the top of the window to open a settings pane.
Copy Final Cut Pro settings between computers
You can copy Final Cut Pro settings to another Mac that has Final Cut Pro installed so that the settings are the same on both computers.
The file is located in the following location:
/Users/username/Library/Containers/Final Cut Pro/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist
In the Finder, press and hold the Option key, then choose Go > Library.
Locate the settings file (named “com.apple.FinalCut.plist”) in the following location:
/Containers/Final Cut Pro/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist
Copy the settings file to the same location on the other Mac.
If necessary, overwrite any existing version of the file at that location.
Note: If you’re using the Terminal app to locate and copy the settings file, use this pathname:
/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.FinalCut/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist
Reset Final Cut Pro settings
You can reset Final Cut Pro settings to their original values.
Press Option-Command while opening Final Cut Pro.
Final Cut Pro resets the settings and adds a file named VideoAppDiagnostics-FinalCut to the desktop, containing a record of your previous settings.
Final Cut Pro shares analytics information with Apple if your system settings allow it. To view or change these settings, see Share analytics information from your Mac with Apple in the Mac User Guide.
