02 Preparing DJI Flip
2.1 Preparing Your Drone
• Download App
DJI Flip needs to be operated via the DJI Fly app. Check here to download the app.
• Charging Method
Checking the Battery Level: Press the power button once to check the battery level.
Charging:
Method 1: A Type-C to Type-C PD fast charging cable is included in the package. Additionally, a USB charger* is required for charging your drone. It takes approximately 70 minutes to fully charge one battery.
*The USB charger needs to be prepared separately. It is recommended to use the charging devices provided by DJI, or other USB-C chargers that support PD fast charging protocols.
Method 2: If you purchase the Fly More combo, you can insert all the batteries into the charging hub until they click into place. Then connect the charging hub to a charger via a USB-C port for charging batteries. If the charger’s power is 65W or above, the charging hub can charge two batteries simultaneously, taking approximately 70 minutes to fully charge both.
Please note that the aircraft does not support charging while it is powered on.
• Powering On/Off the Device
Unfold the front arms, and then the rear arms.
Automatic Power-On: Unfolding either one of the rear arms will power on the aircraft by default.
Automatic Power-Off: Folding both rear arms will initiate an automatic countdown for power-off. During the countdown, a press of any button on the aircraft body can cancel the power-off.
Manual Power-On/Power-Off: Press, then press and hold the power button to power on or off the aircraft.

03 For Beginners
3.1 Obstacle Avoidance
1. The aircraft supports obstacle avoidance function during manual flight or RTH. When using intelligent shooting and intelligent flight features, the aircraft does not support obstacle avoidance. Please ensure that the obstacle avoidance behavior has been set in the DJI Fly app before the flight. It is recommended for novice users to choose “Brake”.
2. Ensure that the flight mode of the remote controller is set to Normal (N mode). When the flight mode is set to Normal (N mode), it is suitable for most flight scenarios and obstacle avoidance can be enabled. When the flight mode is set to Sport (S mode), the obstacle avoidance function will be automatically disabled.
3.2 Flight Policies
Stay informed about the latest information on flight zones, flight restrictions, and requirements before flight. Strictly adhere to them while operating your aircraft.
For GEO Zone information near you, please tap “Before You Fly” in DJI Fly.
For flight safety regulations in different countries and regions, please explore our Compilation of Global Flight Safety Regulations.
3.3 Flight Environment Requirements
Although the aircraft supports obstacle avoidance, it is recommended to fly in open areas that have good lighting without obstacles. Do not take off or land on sandy surfaces or grounds with fallen leaves or other small lightweight objects to prevent foreign objects like sand, weeds, etc., from entering the aircraft and damaging the motors, gimbal, or propellers. Keep your aircraft within line of sight and stay away from obstacles, crowds, and water surface (at least 6 m above water), etc.
For more flight safety information, please refer to Flight Safety Essentials, which covers key points for responding to flight environments, prevention and management of flight incidents, as well as global flight safety regulations.
3.4 Component Protection
To maintain your aircraft in best condition over time, please take care of important components during use.
• Camera: Avoid exposing the camera lens to environments with laser beams (such as laser shows) or capturing objects which have intense light sources (such as the sun) for a long time to prevent damage to the sensor.
• Gimbal: Avoid collisions or damage to the gimbal, as it contains delicate modules that, if harmed, could impair its functionality.
04 Getting Ready for the First Flight
4.1 Palm Control
• Palm Takeoff/Landing
