New Flow Templates for Project for the web

You can use Power Automate to create automated workflows for Project for the web. Project for the web is built on the Microsoft Power Platform, and its data is stored in CDS (Common Data Service). You can access Project data in Power Automate through the Common Data Service connector.

We have released two new Power Automate Flow templates for Project Managers and Team Members in the Flow Template Gallery to help you be more productive with Project for the web. You can also use these templates to explore how to build more Flows with Project for the web data.

 

New Templates

You can leverage templates today by clicking on the link to the template and clicking “Create Flow”.

 

Additional Notes:

  • By default, the Environment field in the Flows are set to “Current” in the Common Data Service actions. The environment that you are in must be “Default” since Project for the web runs in the default org. If you need to update the Environment you are currently in Flow for, you can click the “Environments” button in the top right corner of the ribbon, and select “Default”
  • You will need an appropriate license to run flows in Power Automate. You can learn more about Power Automate licensing here.

    And yet this does very little to further the utility and ease of use of Project for the Web.  However, Write and Share a Power Automate Flow (web or desktop) that can create and fully populate under programmatic control a complete Project for the Web project with both builtin and custom task fields all while reading data from an Excel file, hosted anywhere.

    That, that  would be a notable achievement.

    Hi All

     

    Daily email reminder of late and upcoming tasks in Project flow - Has anyone been able to find a solution for mailing all members in the project the upcoming/late tasks assigned to them as the flow currently sends an email only to the person who owns/runs the flow?

    Greetings to all. Thank you so much jackieduong for these awesome flows for project, i need help with one particular item, variables, i haven't found a way to check which variables are usable from project for the web to make flows. Is there a list somewhere?

    PhuongTran_SE I believe you can use graph.microsoft.com to pull that type of information.  I have previously seen the steps / scripts to use in graph.microsoft.com to get the type of information you are asking for but have not had to do them myself.  Sorry, I can't give any technical instructions besides pointing you to the platform.

    I'm looking for a kind of simpler flow than this. I'd like to get task list from all projects visible to me with due date and update in excel. Could anyone help me on this

    jackieduong Hi there, thanks for this flow.  First time I have seen flows for Project for the Web.  Is there a way to test this flow on a test project?  I don't want to enable this flow for all of our projects at this time till I understand the behavior.  We have a few hundred projects in P4W and would hate to confuse folks.

    Hi all!
    I still have problems for the flow to send notification emails to the team and assigned users, even when users have access to the flow configuration in Power Automate and test and run the process, they do not receive a task notification email, I would appreciate it your help.

    Dhawal_V yes I created a power PI paginated report for late tasks and setup a subscription. I also created a few others with tasks do in. Ext 30 days. You will need a power BI premium workspace to do the subscriptions.
