Project for the web tasks in To-do app
Hi everyone! Since uservoice cannot be used anymore, I hope this post will be read by a MSFT product group and take the suggestion in consideration 🙂 MS To-do (and/or Tasks by Planner) slowly but surely becomes the central place for tasks around the product line, but one missing piece of the puzzle which I am sure everyone would love is the ability to see the tasks from Project for the web assigned to me in To-do / Tasks by Planner. It is great already that Planner tasks are in to-do (for small/agile projects), but when it comes to complex/waterfall this feature is missing. Does anyone know if this is planned somehow? I could not find anything in MS roadmap... Thank you.Solved38KViews27likes42CommentsBulk Edit Not Working
I would like to bulk edit tasks, specifically the Task Calendar. I highlight multiple rows (2 or more), select Information -> Advanced -> Calendar and then pick a calendar, but no changes are made after clicking "OK". This process used to work for making batch edits, but for some reason no longer makes the changes, regardless if it is Calendar, Name, Dates, Durations, etc. I have closed the program. I have opened multiple files. Same result each time. Please advise.Solved6.1KViews1like41CommentsOpening and Viewing Option for Two MS Project Files Simultaneously on Two Screens?
Hi Can two MS Project files be opened on two different screens at the same time? This option is should be there as it is for other usual MS software like Word, Excel etc. Hope this can be fixed as will ease out while working from two parallel files simultaneously. Appreciate if this can be looked at, please asap. Looking forwardSolved144KViews0likes40Comments"We Couldn't Open Your Project"
We have a new licensed user who cannot access a project in the "new" Project. We can add her in as a group member just fine. However, when we attempt to assign a task, we get a pink bar that says, "Couldn't assign resource. Please try again.Correlation ID: 9ff6991b-3508-4488-b271-b54a4ba11ef2." Also, when she attempts signing onto the project via the URL she gets a message stating, "We couldn't open your project" and a Correlation ID of "6489d1c3-aeaa-4346-ad94-ac42ec3e2f2" Any idea what this issue is or how to resolve it?15KViews1like38CommentsProject for the Web - Project Tasks Custom Fields - Power BI Reporting
Hello, We're able to add custom fields to Project Tasks table in the Project for the Web, which is a great feature. However, according to this documentation (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-a-custom-field-in-project-839d206f-b314-48f5-aa06-79140db93b94), it says "To reuse custom fields [in Project for the Web], create acopy of the project. Custom fields can't currently be used across projects or for PowerBI reports." It appears we aren't able to use Custom fields for PowerBI Reports. Are there any workarounds for this? Coding, API, power automate, or anything? Is there anything scheduled in product roadmap to make this feature available? Thanks, Adil12KViews0likes30CommentsProject Online / SharePoint Modern UI
Are there any options for using the SharePoint modern UI with Project Online? It would be nice to be able to utilize a modern page 1) on the PWA landing page, and 2) on the home page for each of the project sites. Has anybody done this yet? And if so, are there any caveats or tricks to make it work properly with the project site template, etc.?27KViews11likes30CommentsCreating production schedule in Project
Hi, I am struggling to find right software for a production scheduling application, for a fast moving manufacturing environment. Eventually I reached to Microsoft Project plan 3 free trial. I find it promising but it is missing the possibility of adding machines etc in the projects. I request to advise on: 1. is the Project right product for a production scheduling purpose? 2. In what form, I get Project so that I get features such as adding machines etc? I am bit confused with Microsoft products available (Project 3 or 5 or Project desktop), before I buy the license, I need to confirm if its possible or not? 3. Does Project desktop still available to download for individual purpose. Please bear with me if this is not the right forum, please direct me suitably.1.9KViews0likes29CommentsExcel Reporting : Can't connect to calendars with OData anymore
Hello there, A few days ago, some of the Excel reportings I'm maintaining for a client stopped working because they get an "access denied" error when accessing data. I'm using OData connections to get relevant informations from both the data sources below : https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/projectdata https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/projectserver/calendars('calendarid') The first data source is the usual one to get all the projects-related data. This one seems to still work fine when using the Admin account (authenticated using the "Organizational account" authentication type). The second one I used to get the calendar exception list from the Standard calendar. It worked fine too until a few days ago and now I can't access it anymore, even with the Admin credentials. When I try to reconnect to the data source I meet a message that says "We can't authenticate you with the given credentials. Try again.". Did the authentication method for calendar access changed these last days ? Has anyone encountered this issue ? So we are running into an issue that appears may be attributed to a Chrome update. I am looking to gather feedback from others to see if you are experiencing the same issues as us. When a user logs into O365 and they navigate to Project Online, they locate the project they want to view and then they try to open it using the MS Project Pro software installed on their system. The normal result is the project opens without issue. What is happening now is MS Project opens but the Project itself fails to open. The current workaround is to use IE. Have you experienced this?Solved15KViews0likes26CommentsNumber of assigned resources on tasks

Hello, we are looking for a solution to add a Teams group to a project in "Project for the Web" with a flow. In the web we have just to select the group and click on "Add" like in the screenshot: Now we have a flow which creates a Teams team (it works fine) and we want to add the created team to a project in PftW. We tried it with the standard Dataverse connectors but didnt find the correct field for this: We also checked the new API:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/project-operations/project-management/schedule-api-preview Is it possible to add a team to the project with a flow? Hello, I have a problem when I link tasks on two different files on MS Project. I have a file A with tasks 1, 2 and 3 and a file B with the link on tasks 1, 2 and 3 of file A. We currently have a large number of Project Plan 3 licenses with users creating their projects Project Pro and saving their mpp files in SharePoint/Team. Obviously we have no way of centralizing anything or sharing schedules with links etc but what would we LOSE if we decided to migrate our mpp files to Project Online with everyone on Project Plan 1? Is it truly a replacement? I believe it doesn't track versions or you can't have multiple copies of one (which is beneficial of having mpp files as you can just rename them to draft, approved, etc. Can we truly move away from mpp files to be fully cloud without losing all the features and options?5.8KViews0likes20CommentsProject for the Web (P4W) Baselines or Due Dates
Hey All, Are baselines or due dates planned for P4W? Do we know when they will be added? Is there a workaround in the meantime? Related question: where does the data for the custom columns live? I created a custom text field called Elapsed Duration as I want to use this field instead of the built-in "Actual Duration" field which calculates based on % complete. I want to monitor and know the true duration that a task has been in progress even when work is not performed. Elapsed duration would be the amount of time that has passed between the Actual Start and Project Status Date for tasks that have not finished or for completed tasks amount of time that has passed between Actual Start and Actual Finish of the task. Then I want the Elapsed Duration rounded to whole days. I'm not sure what function in project to use for that. I'm not sure how to build complex formula like this for Elapsed Duration. Below is what I've come up with so far for individual functions. Calculate Elapsed Duration for Tasks That have started but not finished: IIf([Actual Duration]=0,"NA",ProjDateDiff([Actual Start],[Status Date])/480 & " " & "days") Calculate Elapsed Duration for Tasks that have finished: IIf([% Complete]=100,ProjDateDiff([Actual Start],[Actual Finish])/480 & " " & "days") Round Duration To Whole Days: ?????5.2KViews0likes19CommentsTeams integration: Hiding the O365 header in project roadmaps
It is possible to implement a project roadmap in a Teams tab to simplify communication. Simply open the roadmap, then copy the URL from the address bar and add it as a website tab in Teams. By adding "&dynamicsUI=true" to the URL, you can even hide the O365 header.3KViews0likes18Comments
