MS Project master plan with many projects
Hello, I did a big master plan where i have almost 20 projects with many rows. One project has approximately 70 rows. What i need to now is to share with my coworkers a master plan which shows only 8 rows from each project, Typically only assembly and testing activity. The rest should be hidden. They are not expert to use this software, so i need to prepare for them a new master file where will be shared from actual master plan the activity what they want to see only... Does somebody know how to set it? I would definitely not go in way of using some filters. So my idea is to make a new master plan which will display only some activity from actual master plan. But how to do it? How to link it. Is there any special feature for that? Thank you to all who has some idea how to solve it.19Views0likes1CommentPlanned / actual progress
Dear Community, A more simple question where I need your comments. What is the principle difference between the (1) Progress Line and the (2) Tracking Gantt in terms of showing the planned and actual progress .. ? The Progress Line shows for a defined activity the gap between the current date (planned) and the progress (actual), while the Tracking Gantt shows the gap between the "planned activity" and the "actual activity". Many thanks Steve4Views0likes0CommentsProject web app- No up to date data via OData feed
Hi all, we are working with the project web app. The Data stored in the project web app is pulled via the OData feed connector into a PowerBI report. The project web app is hosted on https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa, the data is pulled from https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/projectdata. The connection and data refresh was working for months without an issue, last week I have added two enterprise custom fields in the PWA and made some changes to the Enterprise Global. When opening the enterprise global a cache limit error appeared in Project Desktop, which was resolved by deleting the cache. I had to do a forced check in of the enterprise global in the PWA settings. I also got an error when loading the "Tasks" table in Power BI, an issue with one of the newly added enterprise custom fields was reported. This issue just appeared once, seems now to be resolved. Since then, I have not gotten any up to data from the PWA via the OData feed into PowerBI. When looking directly in the PWA the data gets updated, but gets not submitted via the OData feed anymore, some "old" versoin of the data gets submitted, I can run the data refresh against the OData feed without any issue but returns only "old" data. I also have 2 "Project Save from Project Professional" jobs under "Manage queue jobs" with job type "Cancelled" which I cannot remove / cancel from the list. How can I solve this? Thanks in advance86Views0likes12CommentsIt should be so simple…

I am attaching the screenshot from xml file indicating the dates that I have set in it Heres the screenshot from Microsoft Project when I import the xml file After going through multiple solution, I found one of them partially working which suggested that i should turn off project calculation after each edit After applying this setting and re-loading the xml, Finish date of parent task appear corrected but for its subtasks which has duration greater than one, it still appears wrong Can someone please suggest me a solution for this ?265Views0likes14CommentsPlanification d'équipe affichage

Hi, A customer moved a project for the web data from default environment to a non-default environment. as expected they are noticing some different behaviour. they are very disappointed and cannot understand why is that the case (but thisis for a different discussion) the issues they are having at the moment and i hope someone have had some creative solution for those When a team member is added to a project a group is created, they get the email from group or project, but the link direct them to the accelerator of the power apps P4W instead of the original experience they were having where the link direct them to the typical P4W page Permissions with that group added all users are added to the restricted group where they can delete projects, they are aware of the plugin but still cant get over the shock that something as basic as this require a custom plugin I hope im missing something and there are solutions for both cases !60Views0likes1CommentExtract Data with VBA in the Project
Hi guys, I need some help.I need to extract data from the project to connect to Power BI. I'm currently using the feature in the database model by going to Report>Visual Report>Save Data Select: Task SummaryField Picker (for custom fields) Save Database However, the chronogram is too large and I'm getting an error on this screen asking me to reduce/separate the project. I wanted to do this export in VBA, I even tried using the VBA code below, but I couldn't find a parameter to export the custom fields. Sub Macro1() VisualReportsSaveDatabase strNamePath:="C:\Users\tulio.oliveira\Downloads\Chronogram_Consolidated_V5.mdb", PjVisualReportsDataLevel:=pjLevelWeeks End Sub143Views0likes9Commentstask drop down not working

I develop a flow that once a week submit timesheets for all users. Is there a way to submit a timesheet on behalf of another user? I have tried the endpoint:_api/ProjectServer/TimeSheetPeriods('periodid')/TimeSheet However, it works only in the current user's context. When I run a Power Automate flow as an Admin, the flow can only see the Admin's timesheets. Could you please advise how I can submit a timesheet for another user?21Views0likes0CommentsAuto schedule tasks with over-allocated resources
I need to manage a project using the Project tool. I can’t seem to get it to automatically adjust the resources assigned to tasks when tasks with the same resources overlap. Here’s a simplified example: Project Characteristics: No set end date -> The goal is to define the end date based on the total task duration (within certain limits). We have information on the hours each task should take and the start date. Based on these criteria and the resources assigned to each task, we’ll determine the project’s end date and adjust accordingly. 2 tasks (simplified example) 2 resources: “Player 1” and “Player 2,” both dedicated 100% to the project. Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Spanish public holidays included. The task start dates are fixed. Task Details: Task 1 - "Breathe" Duration: 100 hours Start date: 12/02/2024 (a "Must Start On" constraint has been added) Assigned resources: Player 1 and Player 2 Task configuration: Duration: 6.25 days -> Estimated automatically by Project. I don’t have a days duration limitation, only by hours. The Estimated checkbox is also marked. Schedule mode: Auto Scheduled Resources: Player 1 (100% units) and Player 2 (100% units) -> This indicates that both resources can dedicate 100% of their time to the task, but if it overlaps with others, it should adjust automatically. In this simplified example, manual adjustments are possible, but this won’t be feasible in a real-world scenario with many tasks and resources. Task type: Fixed units, and Effort-driven is marked -> The goal is to adjust as needed when resources are added or removed, changing only the task's end date and the hours allocated per resource, not the total hours. Task 2 - "Complete Mission 1" Duration: 50 hours Start date: 12/02/2024 (a "Must Start On" constraint has been added) Predecessor: Task 1 ("Breathe") with a Start-to-Start dependency. Assigned resource: Player 1 Task configuration: Same as Task 1, except it has Task 1 as a predecessor. The Issue: Based on the setup, Tasks 1 and 2 will overlap. Both resources will dedicate 9 hours daily to each task, causing "Player 1" to work 9 hours on "Breathe" and 9 hours on "Complete Mission 1" simultaneously. This results in an 18-hour workday, exceeding their 9-hour limit. Attempted Solution: I tried to resolve the overlap by leveling resources through "Leveling Options" with the following configuration: Leveling calculations: Automatic Look for overallocations on a: Day-by-day basis Clear leveling values before leveling: Checked Level entire project: Checked Leveling order: Standard (no priorities assigned) Level only within available slack: Not checked Leveling can adjust individual assignments on a task: Checked Leveling can create splits in remaining work: Not checked Level resources with the proposed booking type: Checked Level manually scheduled tasks: Checked (even though all tasks are auto-scheduled) Desired Outcome: I need Project to automatically adjust the resource's available time (9 hours) between the daily tasks (in this case, two). It should delay the end dates and assign 4.5 hours to each task. This adjustment must be automatic because, in the real-world scenario, there are many tasks and resources in the project, making 100% manual adjustments unfeasible. If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong or if my approach is flawed, I’d greatly appreciate the help.132Views0likes8CommentsAccess Project Online from Project desktop client
