How to use Surface hub with multiple displays

We just recently installed a Surface Hub in the office to use for scrum meeting etc.

We have, right next to it, a regular screen (previously used to connect laptop to). What we would like to do is to use the Surface to call into Skype for Business meetings, and get the video shown on the normal screen, and the collaboration area (with whiteboard etc.) on the Surface display. The purpose is to get the video image larger than the normal little box to the left at the same time as maximizing the collaboration area.

How can we get this setup?

I just dealt with a similar issue with the Surface Hub 3 50inch at the university I work at.  I needed to duplicate the screen of the surface hub to a separate display capture card to create documentation but as you may already know, you cannot natively alter how the displays are presented on the surface hub.

My trick was to locate the skype folder under Task Scheduler when in the admin account of the device.  From there you will want to create a scheduled task copying the address for powershell from the logon task that is initiated by the skype user logging in.  Then you will want to set the parameters to:

    displayswitch.exe /clone

And make sure you set the task to be run by the Skype user, otherwise this trick won't work.

Additionally, you'll need to set a 1 minute delay to the task after logon to ensure that the task launches after the teams room launcher has done its changes to the system config.

After that, every time you login to the skype user on the Surface Hub 3, the displays will automatically go into duplicate mode after 1 minute allowing for your meeting contents to be projected to multiple displays within the meeting room.

This might not be precisely what you are looking for, and being able to expand the work space of the teams room to multiple other devices would be greatly appreciated, but this is a small win.

    Hi Anders

I'm afraid this isn't possible. The Surface Hub has a video out DisplayPort cable which can duplicate the screen on another TV/monitor, but you cannot extend the screen or move the Skype bar to another screen.

    Thanks

Thanks again for your quick response, Dan. :)

This was unfortunate, I wonder if we are the only ones that would like this feature...(?) It seems like a pretty standard thing for a modern collaboration tool (having large video and also large collaboration area).

I guess we have to start without, and just hope for this feature to be developed.

        Hi Anders,

you are not the only one who wants this feature! We have the same setting like you and we have the same feature request ;)
