Hi, Microsoft 365 Insiders! I’m Katarina Tranker, a Product Manager on the Teams team. I’m excited to let you know that you can now take control during screen sharing in Teams for the web – a feature that was previously only available in Teams for Windows and Mac. Take control during screen sharing in Teams for the web By taking control of screen sharing, team members can collaborate more effectively. Enhanced collaboration: The take control feature allows multiple participants to interact with shared content, making it easier to work together on documents, presentations, or other materials in real-time. Improved meeting efficiency: When one person takes control of the screen, it helps streamline the meeting process. The presenter can navigate through the content without interruptions, ensuring that the meeting stays on track and covers all necessary points. Seamless transitions: If different team members need to present during the same meeting, taking control of screen sharing allows for smooth transitions between presenters. This ensures that the flow of the meeting is not disrupted and that each presenter can easily share their content. Interactive demonstrations: Taking control of screen sharing is particularly useful for interactive demonstrations. Whether it’s a software tutorial, a product demo, or a training session, the presenter can guide the audience through the steps, answer questions, and provide hands-on experience. Focus and clarity: When one person controls the screen, it helps maintain focus and clarity. The presenter can highlight key points, zoom in on important details, and ensure that the audience’s attention is directed to the relevant information. Security and privacy: Taking control of screen sharing can also enhance security and privacy. The presenter can control what is being shared and ensure that sensitive information is not accidentally displayed to the audience. We heard from many of you that you’d like us to bring these capabilities you enjoy in Teams for Windows and Mac to the web. We’re glad to deliver! How it works During a Teams call where someone else is screen sharing, select Take control > Take control of the presentation. NOTE: The person presenting must approve or deny your request. Once you have control, you will be able to make other modifications to the shared screen, such as alter a file or provide a demonstration. To stop screen sharing or give control to another user, select Release control. Availability To use the new take control feature, you must be a member of the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release and use the new Teams client web.
